How much does the sump weigh?
I'm off to the States later next month and might try to slip one into my baggage.

About 20lb it say for the kit. So under 10kg. Pickup 3 for us all and you'll still be under weight. Just take cabin luggage for all your personal stuff.

Excellent, sorted then, thanks!

TL, the low profile sump is a must for every GM install in a Harrison. We have done a few C6 sump conversions on Harrisons over the years. Depending on the sump you have, you will gain somewhere between 35 - 45mm in height from memory.

Surprised the stock GM sumps fit in the classic revivials height wise. To do that you would need to run the drivetrain around 40mm higher than what we do in PACE 427. The slim line C6 sump is level with the bottom of our chassis (which is the very bottom of our car, nothing hangs down lower than the chassis, not even the exhaust). Technically the bottom is 8mm lower than this as this accounts for fasteners, shear plates etc.

On my LS1 setup the bellhousing on a t56 is approx 12mm lower than a C6 sump.

With the CR the bell housing or in my case the trans sump is as low or lower than a stock sump.
No sense in getting a low profile sump if it is no lower than the next bit behind it!!!

I've found this too with mine. The current plan is to mill the bottom edge of the bell housing flush with the sump.

I'll post some before and after pics.

I had the Camaro sump on my CR before and it was the lowest point in the car. Switching to the C6 pan gained about an inch of ground clearance. Milling the bell housing will gain a little more again.

Cheers

I have the same "issue" with the T56 being about 10mm lower than the C6 sump. I believe the correct fix is to raise the engine/gearbox or weld in some shields/ramps, as I'd rather the chassis hit the ground than my expensive driveline.

stiffy 09-23-2014 09:41 PM

Me too

SAMBO,

You researched the sump anf got me one too, I have the same issue

where the gearbox is slightly lower than the sump.

My car is quite low and have never had an issue with clearance, maybe

if you stay on the race track you mighten have any issues either :D:D

Yes, that was many years ago - before they were cool.

Still, I believe in prevention rather than cure!

So what about the tr6060? Does that have the same bell housing as the t56? Will this be lower than the C6 sump?

Not that there's much I could do about that anyway, other than take it over to Mike's :-)

400TT 09-24-2014 04:35 PM

Guye, from memory.

6060 M10 (L98, LS3, L77 etc version) bellhousing flange hangs down about 5mm or so below the C6 sump and if you were keen you could trim off the offending flange.

6060 MG9 (LSA) hangs down 15mm as it has cooling vents there.

Not really an issue.

no I reckon there a rear hump but seen as they come with everything that's needed it's not a problem for the pace chassis .

Hmmm, well that's a problem. Anyone know of any other options?
I've got a chassis rail running right through where the rear hump would be.
Might have to drop it off to Mike for an adjustment ;-)
