Suggested UK Cobraphile sites to visit

Sadly I am tripping over to the UK next week to attend a funeral.

Am there for a week and have thought about where I might go to look at anything Cobra related.

Not yet sure yet if I am going to be limited to train travel or will have access to a car but will have time on my hands to get about.

Any suggestions guys?

Europa spares is definitely worth a visit. I went there and bought a bunch of stuff on a trip to the UK. Even brought a complete windscreen assembly back in my luggage :)

If you're anywhere near south west London, it is worth going to see AC Heritage at Brooklands and while you're there visit the Brooklands museum and the old banked circuit. Well worth a visit.

Where are you going to be. The UK may be much smaller than Australia, but it can still take a significant time to get from one end to the other. ;)

Hey Paul!
How are you going?

Thanks guys.

Paul my base is likely to be out of Staines and fairly likely to be using trains and shanks pony this trip around.

Just looked up Brooklands location and that might be do-able even using the train system.

However the priority right now is sourcing accommodation in Staines at a modest cost, there doesn't seem to be too much available at pleb level.

Slowy

I was there last year for the Donnington Kit Car Show but you've missed that one.

Brands Hatch Total Kitcar is on the 15th November if you're still there. It's not far from London http://www.brandshatch.co.uk/calenda...-car-live.aspx

Why don't you grab a car, they're pretty cheap to rent over there. We had a little 1 litre Ford Fiesta that went like the clappers for about $30 day.

I've got a couple of pommy contacts there from the European Cobra Meeting in Germany. Nice fellas, I'll PM you an email with details.

Thanks Greg

Where did you source the Fiesta mowing machine?

At $30 it might make a very cheap hotel if I'm stuck for accomodation too.

Steve
PM awaiting re email address...
On the car, my travelling mate booked it. I think he used an agency like autoeurope.com (there's heaps of them)
I arranged a car for Germany with Thrifty. Complete burglars, I received a credit card debit for 600 Euro four months after getting home.

Slowly

May not be useful now but in 2005 we rented a reasonable car (3000 miles new, 4cyl diesel) from easycar (Car Hire in London - Compare cheap rental deals from easyCar) for £2 a day plus insurance etc. Cost about £8 per day with unlimited miles and insurance. Catch was it was only available from one location (Stockwell) and from Monday to Friday only.
