Will be interesting to see the comparison in prices.Flat rate of $25 or so and $5.95 per 500g might be much the same if you are purchasing heavy items. I was trying to purchase a Clay Smith Cams tee shirt in the Us early in the year and postage was $56 for postage when you can get tee shirt locally for same price and $7 postage. Will be nice to see if it is cheaper to get tyres in the States with this system.

One of the real advantages is when trying to buy stuff which will only ship to a US address...

True, but the issue is that a lot of US retailers want you to pay with a US credit card and will only ship to the US billing address on record with the CC company.

I have a US credit card and can add the Aus Post delivery address to my list of approved addresses with GM Card (Capital One), but I'm not sure how other Aussies are going to be able to enable the payment if the retailer doesn't accept PayPal?

I just had packaged posted by Shipito (freight forward company) in Nevada. The postage cost was Au$52. I did a calculation from the Australia Post's ShipMate web site for the same package and it came out at Au$66.60.
25% more, maybe the competition might help reduce the cost in the future.
