Hey Zedn

sounds like you have air in you MC.
Try bleeding from the line fitting that connects to the end of MC.
Just crack fitting open while bleeding and bubble should disburse.
Once all air (bubbles) removed from master cylinder then move to slave cylinder and bleed from there.
Had same problem on mine and found this to be only way to remove air from Master cylinder

Quick question - slightly related - Could you fit one of those bleed extension kits whilst the gearbox is attached to the engine (e.g. without separating them). Or would it be too messy and you would run the risk of fluid leaking into the bell housing? (or could you drain most of the fluid out first). Just trying to see if I could retrofit one without pulling engine gearbox apart. Curious only at this stage. Cheers Gregg

you could probably fit one of mine but it'd be a pain in the ass job. If you were careful you could unscrew the original and screw the new extension in but it'd be hard to align and find the hole while working in the engine bay.

Lots of swearing probably required

Not as supplied, but I believe you could by using it along with Mike's fitting.

I originally installed it as per the fitting instructions but following advice from experienced users I routed it up the firewall to ensure no air pocket existed.

thanks Mike and Peter, I think I'll leave well enough alone until I have to bleed it again - fingers crossed that won't have to be for a while. cheers Gregg

Hi Dave,

I have been looking on the net for a fish tank pump and also dropped into a pet store today. All the ones i have found have not had an air inlet on them. They seam to just have an outlet.

Is the Kmart one different? I tried on the Kmart website but couldn't find any listed. Havnt had a chance to drop into kmart yet.

I know exactly the style of pump Dave is referring to, they were around and we had one when I was a kid, external, rectangular/squarish, beige body with a black base, hummed along with a small vibration, must admit I haven't seen one in over 25 years.

Maybe try your local aquarium shop to see different options?

Zedn 12-02-2014 02:26 AM

I saw similar at the pet shop, but they only had an output. The instructions shower an internal diagram, but showed more of a large port than something you could put a hose on. Maybe I will just get the manual vacuum pump style for $30 off eBay.

Zedn,
I'm in PNG at the moment, I texted my wife who found the box, its called a "Yuge F Mute Tank Aerator"
Made in china,
$10.99 from KMart.
Its in the pet toy section with water heaters and fish food.
Dave

DaveW 12-02-2014 03:08 AM

Ben, yes thats exactly the description, except it has a grey plastic body now.
Although i did have one that was blue once.
When you switch it on it hums and will vibrate it self across the floor.

It is only 3 or 4 months ago that I last did this on my brothers vz ute, so they are still around.

Zedn 12-02-2014 04:01 AM

Cool thanks for going to the trouble. Much appreciated.

Zedn 12-16-2014 04:01 AM

I wasn't able to get a pump from Kmart so I bought a hand pump off eBay. Not the best quality but works none the less.

I bench bled the master cylinder tonight and this has given me some pedal feel but the clutch doesn't release.

When I vecuum the bleeder, it just sucks air. The bleed screw is really wobbly once it's undone. Even just a fraction of a turn and it wobbles from side to side. I think the vacuum is sucking air through the threads so not working. Is this normal?

I will try the conventional method now the master is done and see if to works that way. Should be less suseptable to air leaking in the thread.

Zedn, i have a couple of spare parts if you end up needing them, extension shaft and bleed nipple

DaveW 03-05-2016 05:20 PM

Old thread, but found this item on eBay which might help those coming up to bleeding a clutch, T56 ot TR6060 whatvere, or brakes in general.

Pneumatic AIR Brake Bleeder KIT Pressure Fluid Extractor With Fill Bottle SET | eBay

cheers
