Tire Test: Nine Affordable Summer Tires Take On the Michelin PS2 - Comparison Tests I am in Texas and do not plan to track vehicle. Primarily street driving... I chose the following tires for a car I am in the process of building. Kumho Ecsta XS 315 /30 R18 98W SL BSW 265 /35 R18 97W XL BSW Toggle back and forth between mfg. websites. determine your usage decide how often you want to replace tires loudness etc..... good luck! |
Owned by toyo. Their nt01's are essentially r888's with a different tread pattern. Reviews are mostly very positive in the limited research I have done. Cheers

TOYO won't bring them into Australia as they believe they will compete directly with TOYO & they fear a loss in sales, as our market is so small comparably to the US. Good stuff though  |
I've got 555's for my Cobra, they aren't on the car yet so I can't give you any feedback on how they drive. From my research they are a pretty good tyre and recommended by Vintage.

Attachment 25205 Not your size, but i run these Nitto 325/50/15s Extreme Drag radials on the back and have found them excellent for road and strip duties, way better than micky thompsons in the wet and a lot better milage and about the same price, i also run toyos r888s in 235/50/15s on the front, and i had to get a sydney tyre supplier to bring both sets in from the states for me as no tyre supplier in Australia stocks these sizes, GO FIGURE, i will be looking for a new set of rears soon, so if anybody else is interested in the widest 15 inch stickiest rubber you can get pm me.

Thanks Guys......Just ordered Nitto Invo 245/40 19's at $200.00 a pop.....and 285/35 19's at $265.00 each. If they are half as good as the " Man" says, I will be happy ( especially at that price ) ....... Will fit them up on some "Cray" Corvette wheels that I have laying around here somewhere........ and see how they look on the " Pace with Difference " Muzzza

Will be interested to see what you think of them?

Muzz, assuming that's a USD price, how much for shipping?
Tom, those tyres look amaaaaaaaaaaazing! |
Craig,
Off the shelf at St George Tyres.com. Arncliffe, NSW, I checked local prices on the Coast.........you would not believe the difference !!!.............Muz |

Nitto
Hey muzzza,
I am running 315x17x30 Nitto NT05 on the rear and have just opted for the same tyre for the front (235x17x40) but have not run the fronts as yet. The rears are great value, wide and sticky, what else would you want:D:D STIFFY |
Muzzza,
Are you sure 285 is enough tyre for all that power? Surely you could fit a 315? I have purchased from St George before, they seem to get odd sizes left over when they do bulk orders. Just make sure you are not getting really old stock.... Cheers, Ben |
Beejay,
I agree......285 is not a wide tyre. Something a lot wider may “ Look the Part” on a cobra. With my current driving ( Cruising ) style, it should not be a problem. The Nitto tyre in question, is a relatively hard compound and would normally be found on much heavier cars. Say 1350 - 1800 kg. With a Cobra weighing in at just over 1000 kg.......More weight per sq mm, on a moderate tyre contact patch …....will mean the tyre can function closer to the factory engineered design. It's only a generic road tyre after all. We can probably all recall cars with big “Fat Feet “that performed more like small surfboards !! Please excuse my dated terminology. On the track with little weight, wide tyres and very soft compounds things become a lot different. Corner weight / Contact patch / Tyre compound........Just a theory !! muzzza |
Mick Taleb of Taleb tyres in sydney, i have found the best for nitto tyres

Had them on a Golf GTI which put out over 200kw ATFW and they were great and wore well!
