deano59 06-13-2015 07:27 PM

alffie 06-13-2015 08:24 PM

Hi outback
How long have you been out at Jabiru? You working for the mine?

outback 06-14-2015 06:02 AM

Used to be an eng at the mine
Do work out at remote communities
And run a few hunting safaris when i feel like it

boxhead 06-14-2015 05:42 PM

As I said at the start, It is a love hate relationship, at the moment it is love, so not really for sale.

Yes you did offer the money I thought it was worth, and I was caught on the backfoot as I wasn't really expecting that (considering you haven't seen it yet).

After talking with other sellers of the same brand of vehicle I was advised the price was way too low (unless selling to get out of a pickle).

I did some pricing up to replace it with either a PACE kit or a Dodge SuperBee.

The prices certainly have gone up since I built mine.

So thank you for the offer.

outback 06-15-2015 03:55 PM

Don't kid urself mate
U gave a price . I accepted and u backpedaled. Pretty ordinary
And as far as thinking ur car is worth more money .have a look at carsales. Theres a ****load out there that aren't selling.
Things are only worth what people are prepared to pay for them .so don't get confused. I have owned collections of very rare vettes . High dollar cars are getting harder to move . Up here in the NT especially
And when u start getting up in the $90k up area . U can get a lot of cars .Z06,s Vipers. etc etc that do the job as good of not better. And being complianced are easier to move around the country
anyway good luck withit all

kyleb 06-15-2015 04:09 PM

Outback.
If Boxhead doesn't want to sell his car to you then that is his choice.
You said there are plenty of other cars out there then go buy one of those mate..
Or maybe you should stick with your vettes since they do the job better !!

outback 06-15-2015 04:54 PM

What .are you his boyfriend or something
Mind ur business
I dropped it yesterday. Not interested in his car any longer
Just saying my bit in relation to the last post. Its a free world . Allowed our opinions .
stating the facts
never said anyone's car was no good. Their all great in their own way .
Enough said on the subject
Moving on

kyleb 06-15-2015 05:50 PM

Really..
By all means move on !!

Aussie Mike 06-15-2015 05:52 PM

You're not going to make too many friends on here with that kind of attitude.

As for values it's a tricky subject. Dave's car is a CR which is considered by many to be one of the better quality replicas. If you want to buy a turn key car from CR I believe it's up in the $120K range. To bring Dave's car up to that level it just needs paint so add another $10K-$15K for a pro paint job.

I can understand Dave's backpedal. A lot who have built Cobras will be thinking just about the cost in materials they have put into the car and not factoring in the labor etc. Replacement cost is a rude shock when you look at having a shop build the same car you've built yourself.

Cheers

As it is a free world, I wish to voice my humble opinion:

I believe wholeheartedly that this (below) is the most incorrectly, over used, over glorified, load of malarkey I've even heard people bandy about!

Its clearly only worth what someone is willing to let it go for!

Just putting it out there for those misguided souls.

Enjoy

boxhead 06-17-2015 05:30 AM

Hi Outback, not sure why you are so angry, as I said in my first post on this thread, the car isn't really for sale at this time.
In our phone conversation I said the same thing numerous times. And even tried to advise you what to do, what to look for and who to talk with at MVR to buy a car interstate and comply in NT.

you asked what sort of money I would want, I said a number and you agreed to it, but again I point out I said numerous times it wasn't for sale.

Not everything can just be bought.

Boxhead

Dave,

Good to hear your keeping the Cobra.

I agree the prices on quality cars has certainly improved and it's quite a surprise to see what it costs to replace it.

Luckily the guy moved onto another marque and hopefully another site.

Must be a fried from the sun and heat in his area..
