sorting a few handling issues out

Was down at a guys shop today getting some work done on the suspension set up of my Cobra. Never felt 100% happy with the set up and was not willing to push it into corners too hard. This guy has done a lot of work with some very good motor sport teams and when I popped in there today Rob Darnell was in there having a chat with the guy.

We had a quick talk about a few things Cobra related and my Cobra. Was an interesting time learning about a few things to do and listening to these two guys. Learned a bit and needless to say there's a small list of items to do.

Found out my Cobra is 1180 kg's with 48% front and 52% rear weight split. Looking at adding in some x-members to aid in the rigidity of the tunnel area and also a sump guard as it sits very low and pretty much is waiting for something to hit it and dump my oil everywhere.

Like all car projects the work never stops even when you think it has.

My other project is coming along slowly. Chassis is back and the Toyota 1VD-FTV 4.5L turbo diesel is mounted in the 80 series chassis. The body work is under way so hopefully soon I will see the putting together of the idea into a rough body sitting on a chassis. I have tried to upload a couple of pics, but they all fail even when the size is 62kb and is less than 800x600.

see if this works.

Front 1/2 of the body with turbo diesel engine sitting in chassis

rear 1/2 of the body with shortened and squared up door.

Can you use a low profile LS sump from a Corvette on the Cobra? Saves an inch or so.
