Fitting Serpentine belt to Coyote

I need help fitting the serpentine belt to the 5.0L Coyote late 2014 model. The belt just runs around the pulleys and alternator, no air or power steering.

I am not sure how the belt tensioner works or is the belt the stretchy type that just gets pulled over the pulleys.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Russell

Some pics might help. you will either have a spring loaded adjuster or a bolt and pivot type adjuster.
The belts dont stretch to fit.

actually if your not running air con you just get rid of the compressor and idler pulley and belt and if your not running power steering it gets even better as you toss that and bolt up a idler and you have one belt that does the water pump and alt .

coyote i have no idea lol

Here's my AU Windsor sans power steering and A/C much like you.

I had Marty Govett fabricate and locate a mounting bracket off which he bolted a GM belt tensioner.

This is the spring loaded pulley arrangement on the left side of the system. It was the only place where cast bolt holes could be accessed.

So importantly get your belt orientation correct on the remaining pulleys and work on fabricating a stock tensioner back onto the front of the block somewhere.

It took me a couple of goes to source a belt of the right dimension to fit my layout but you generally have a fair variety of size options.

Good luck.

Thanks for all your comments folks.

My problem was not the orientation of the belt but the b%$#&y belt tensioner. I could not get the tensioner to retract when fitting the belt. It turned out that the tensioner appeared to have been crushed during the assembly process and I was reluctant to use excessive force which I have now done and it works a treat. It works freely and I will keep and eye on it when I get the engine started. There is no tight spots at all and must have just spragged up in the manufacturing. I thought for a moment that it must have been a stretchy belt which some of them are.

Once again, thanks for your input and the job is now done.

Cheers

Seeing as it's a Coyote belt, one would have thought that you would need a special tool from the ACME Supply Company for that :p :LOL:

I had one of those but that pesky road runner swiped it.
