Hi All,

been lurking for a while and trying to learn as much as I can from all of you. previously posted regarding the homebush cobra that was for sale at a dealer in Sydney - I'm pretty fastidious with paint and this one just didn't cut it in the flesh for me - sounded fantastic over the phone!

I'm a little confused as to how people find cars for sale on this forum - the for sale section seems to be mainly populated by offshore cars for sale - not many local cars.

I'm looking around at present for a cobra - have decided I don't have time (or patience) to build so looking for something already built and registered - looking for something that I can track on occasion but mainly for cruise. must be manual and preferably with active side pipes.

I'm a larger guy - 6'2" and 100kg so fitting into what is proposed seems to be one of the big challenges.

please post or PM if you have something for sale that may be of interest - willing to travel for the right car.

as an aside I am really experiencing problems with the local rego authority regarding what is required to transfer the rego on an interstate car (information seems light on) - rego authority is advising if the car is currently registered interstate - I just need to provide a local roadworthy, show up at the counter and pay my money - does this seem correct to any of the local Canberra peeps?

Regards,
Brad

If that's what the rego authority is advising, get it in writing and you're all set.

What's your budget?

thanks for the fast reply - budget really depends on car and condition - open to all offers.

I did attend the nats a couple of weeks ago and spoke to a few people - thought there may have been some cars for sale up there but only one that I saw.

Hi Brad, as this is actually an American based forum and we have our own little club page for Aussie banter, most here do not use or even look at the for sale pages. If anyone that used the forum has a car for sale they'll just post it here. Your other option is obviously the usual Car Sales sites or word of mouth through the club or local chapter. Only a small amount of Cobra owners in Oz use this forum so you won't find many here for sale. Have you tried some of the state clubs web sites? It appears NSW have dropped forum and for sale pages.
Have you been in touch with Mark Gore our local organiser? I'll PM you his contacts.

As for local transfer requirements, I'm sure when it comes to crunch time, they'll want to at least see engineering papers so if your looking at an interstate car, make sure these are all in order. Have you made it clear to them that it's and Individually Constructed Vehicle? (ICV) This might change their response. If you're just getting patched through to Canberra Connect, they wouldn't know all the rules, you will need to ask the be transferred to Technical Standards.

Cheers

I’m in a similar boat at the moment. Not many Cobra’s for sale in NSW right now that I can find through the normal avenues of carsales etc so I’ve started to look at interstate cars but that means starting the rego process from scratch and that’s not a whole lot of fun.

Hello Uncle,

Noticed your interest on PF.

If you are really serious about a Cobra best to do some research on the various cars out there. Some look good, some are fast, some are cruisers.

Would be worth attending some club get togethers to see what is out there.

If you are in Sydney any time I am happy to show you my build.

Cheers,

Ben

Hey Ben,

Yeah I am. In all honesty I’ll prolly sell the 930 first but if the right car pop’s up I’ll buy it. I should of bought the CORSE car but I couldn’t bring myself to sell the Porsche before I’d ticked all the boxes I wanted to do to it first. Once I’ve run it one last time and the SM1000 I’ll move it on.
Priority for me is Fast > Looks>>>>>crusier.
