McLaren --- the glory years.

Where did we go wrong?

CanAm at Laguna, Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, Elkhart Lake ....or four-door sedans on the streets of an old Olympic village?

With apologies to anyone waiting to see Whincup bash Frosty out of the running tomorrow ... oh wait on, he already did that at Phillip Is.

Best race series that ever was. Last of the truly unlimited class racing. I have Super 8 film of CanAm from Laguna Seca from early 70's.

The older the cars get the better they are.

CanAm is by far my favourite formula of any racing out there.

I was at the Melbourne F1 GP years back and CanAm was a support race. it was glorious, Way better than the F1. The maddest looking cars and the deep bellow of injected big blocks and the thump of down shifting backfires echoing from all over the track... lovely.

I also think that part of it is that all the race cars I drew with crayons as a kid looked like a can am car.

cheers

Bestest cars to watch and listen too.

Well I've just watched Peter Allen's two Whitsun Trophy videos for the fourteenth or fifteenth time. Brilliant cars and drivers, brilliant field, brilliant location and of course brilliant racing. I liked Gary Pearson's remark after the last race that while the track was becoming slippery in certain places and the cars were moving around even more than usual, there was never any body contact, despite being in such close proximity to one another.

The fact that I was there with Ash (Towmaster) Dave (Boxhead) and Craig (750 HP) to see the 2012 race live makes watching it again all the more special.

The Revival is definitely something I want to cross off my bucket list --- twice!

It was fantastic, and something I will be doing again.
