Washer bottle mounting/heat shielding
Hi all,
Just curious what people have done with their washer bottle placement or some sort of heat shielding. The washer bottle is currently mounted on the front of the passenger side foot well. The problem is below this runs the exhaust to the side pipes. The washer bottle is a plastic universal job and what do know the plastic retainer for the washer motor has melted funnily enough. So the motor was just floating basically being held in place by the tube and wiring. The motor has also started leaking basically the heat has killed I think. So I was wondering were people have mounted their washer bottles or what they have done about some heat shielding. My initial thoughts were to just fold up some ally plate as a heat shield to go below and up the sides of the bottle. I figured this should work. Interested to know people thoughts and ideas i think the heat shielding is the easiest option but moving the bottle maybe a better long term solution. andrew I had the same bottle & the heat did affect it so I got a copy in alloy of ebay that uses the same washer motor & now bizzinga

I am using an aluminium Aeroflow bottle, and mounted it in the front left corner of the engine bay, well away from any heat.

I did not install a wasker bottle, got a pass from the state police when they inspected the car.
I did have to install two heat shields: Master cylinders and steering column. These hang over the headers out from the head on the left side. The top end was gone over by the NASCAR shop and they installed a .610 CAM. When they did that, I had a good jump in heat as well as HP. It was enough to tip the thermal tolerances. So, the brakes began to fade and the steering began to stick. I formed 1/8 aluminum in a firewall mounted bracket to shield the master cylinders and I made a rolled sleeve that is clamped to the steering column. Both work as expected. I only wish I had design them in at the beginning. Hope this helps. Tru |

Perhaps you can start on the bling process.
