LS3 Engine harness what did you use?
So you have your new GM/ Holden VE/VF Ls3 crate engine, what type of engine harness ECU do you get to make it run with all the emissions stuff working so you can get it passed.I plan on doing all this my self if possible. :0

On my crate LS2 we used a new standard GM harness and ECU. Jim at Sideshow's Performance Wiring in Sydney modified the harness and ECU accordingly.

On my LSA, I used the GMPP #19259293 engine controller kit which included the engine harness, fuse box, 02 sensors and bungs, MAF sensor and mount and a pre-programmed PCM/ECU.
It was all plug and play and the fuse box came pre-wired with relays for the cooling fan and fuel pump(s). Just needed to wire up a reverse solenoid lockout controller kit that I bought from Modern Driveline in the states, and it all started and ran perfectly first time. I used the OEM GM LS3/HSV cats (modified to fit my Pace Cobra) for the IM240 emissions test and it passed with only a minor tweaking of the tune. Given my motor is supercharged and puts out greater emissions, a NA LS3 would romp it through. |
got mine from sideshow, he used a new VZ loom and ECU and modified the loom a bit.

I have a VE HSV R8 loom, E38 ECU, Matching DBW pedal assembly, MAF etc which came off my 9000k LS3 when i bought it. Send me a PM if your interested or any body interested. for that matter. Includes VSS, Reverse lockout and Reverse lighting harness for manual trans (will suit T56 as well). All un-modified, as left factory, so ECU will need flashing to remove security and other OEM crap. cheers Dave |
i stripped a ve to get my motor and trans and all the bits i needed i sent my loom and ecu to sideshow to get rid of all the stuff not needed and extend the loom so i can mount the ecu behind the dash as well as taking out the security out of the ecu..

Thanks for the replies.Does the GMPP harness support the purge solenoid for the emissions, if using a modified harness does that have the reverse lockout programmed for the tremec 6060?

I used a factory e38 off eBay with security removed, wiring was PSI performance standalone harness. Only problem was the throttle pedal is different in the us so I had to buy a pedal here and connector

I used the GMPP harness and was able to wire it all in myself (with some great advice from all and sundry on here). It does not support the purge solenoid - so I deleted it and went old school with a vacuum solenoid equipped canister.

Used a Painless wiring harness with DBW option. Wired it in myself including the cruise.
All happened as advertised.. Instructions supplied were easy to follow and also provides the part Numbers of all components that will be compatible. |
