Small truck transporter
Hey Fella's
Hoping for some advice on an idea I have.
Im thinking of buying a small flat bed truck, then enclosing the rear in like an enclosed race car trailer and fitting a rear tail lift , then modifying the tail lift base to accomodate a small car like a Cobra or 40.
Does this sound like something that could work? Im mostly worried about the lift.

The lift length will be your biggest hurdle. Tailgate lifters can handle a ton or two but it has to be close in, like a pallet width otherwise the principle of the lever comes into play and you need a bigger lift capacity.
Have a look at the ones on the back of the V8 supercar trailers and the length of the lifter.

Yeah was looking I see you can get 7t rated lift so that may lift a ton car with a 4.5m bed. Most of weight (engine) would be near back of truck in sweet spot for lifting.

Why not a covered short beaver tail with ramp at rear of beaver tail that hinges down like horse float ramp, lower hinge point should keep ramp angle to a minimum for cars like cobra, gt40.
