Wheel Alginment
Hi all,
I recently put new wheels and tyres on the car, and of course I got them to do a wheel alignment. They corrected the toe but weren't able to or were unwilling to sort the front castor and camber which are vastly different left to right. Then on the weekend a friend of my uncles was looking at the car and noticed that there was an obvious difference in the camber of the rear wheels as well. So this too needs to be corrected. So I am after some suggestions of were to take the car to get all this sorted as I don't have the tools. I am in Melbourne South east. Cheers Andrew |

The location and orientation of the upper arms is set by the mounting point on the frame and, influenced by the choice of upper arms - is largely responsible for setting the caster and camber. What LoBelly said. Had Nathan from Advantage do my first alignment and my fixed Jag front arms limited the driver's camber to a setting of zero. Went down the adjustable top arm route and this has given me huge flexibility including how much caster to dial in. The option wasn't cheap though as there was machining work needed for my kit and is generally needed. Needed new top arms as the bolt points are different and Marty makes a tapered ferrule as the top ball joint taper differs from the Jag. I ended up getting my second alignment through Rob Tucker at Hastings Tyrepower. Can definitely recommend Rob's work and he was happy for me to watch the alignment exercise in process to see the before and after results. |

Hi all,
Went and saw Nathan at Advantage Suspension yesterday thanks for the recommendation he certainly does know his stuff. He is really helpful explained it all to me. As with most Cobra stories there is a big BUT. Turns out I have 17.5mm of total toe in on my rear end as he said this is not ideal. He would happy with 5mm. So he now has the job of correcting this which means basically he has to hotshot shrink the lower rear control arms. This explains why when I changed wheels and tyres recently the old rear tyres which apparently had only done 6000 km's were already down to the wear bars and thety were only Kelly Chargers which aren't particularly soft tyres. I guess it is possible that someone had been doing lots of burn outs at some point. Anyway so the fun continues thanks again. Andrew |

Sorry I don't have any photographic proof of my rear end with 3mm of toe all in the same direction...... :JEKYLHYDE:eek:
