Body going back on
Hi Guys, glacial progress on my Cobra but as they say - good things come to those that wait...
Anyway, I'm about to put the body back on, hopefully for the last time. What did you use between the chassis and body? Anything specific to stop squeaks etc? Thanks JC |
I just got a roll of rubber about 50mm wide from Clark rubber and then used contact adhesive to stick it in a few places just to hold in place till clamped. I also used foam roofing tape for some area subject to less pressure where I wanted a dust seal.

Thanks Liam, I've got a Clark Rubber right around the corner so I'll check it out.

Don't buy anything else from them though. Bloody expensive!

JC,
Dont use the neoprene rubber, it has little air bubbles that trap water and will remain wet against the chassis,...corrosion spots will result, use solid rubber strips or donuts. Dave |
If you use a foam tape use a closed cell foam as they don't absorb water. The little bubbles are air tight in a closed cell foam where a regular foam they are open like a sponge.
The foam used to make car door and window seals is a closed cell foam. |
The rolls they cell are solid rubber about 3mm thick. It is the stuff that resists fuel and oils. Epdm I think from memory.
