Steering surround copy

Cobra is finally back in the garage after having the windscreen crack post trim and my attention has returned to the refit of gear.

Use a Hyundai excel stalk arrangement and the matching steering cover and I keep cracking off plastic lock tabs between the two halves of these covers.

Made me think whether there is a way to get a better quality copy made of the two halves.

Would anyone know if this is do-able?

Except that I've set up the dash cut out to mimic the inner shape of the surround I might have thought about fabrication of some form of round metal cover.

So with all the technology out there, is there a means of copying such shapes in better grade materials?

Cheers

Steve

Tried that for another part and using glass gets quite bulky.

I like the 3D suggestion but have had no exposure to it nor have any contacts to talk more on it this as an option.

There is some finer glass products available ...along with "tissue" you can make anything in a thin profile....I remolded a mustang instrument panel using this method...the general thickness was 1/16" ...a bit thicker around the edges and mounting points.
