Carpet
I'm thinking of having a go myself at doing carpets, will start by doing the boot area as it looks easiest. Does anyone have any recommendations on what type/style/supplier to use for appropriate carpet material?
Something marine would seem logical for water compatibility, but the (limited) marine carpets I have looked at seem quite thick. Any comments or suggestions as to what to use?

i used the bunnings stuff &the wifes hair dryer to mould it ..heat it slowly[ experence talking ] as i melted a few patches at first
ssshhh dont tell her but !!

If you want to go the least expensive route, the rolls of carpet you can buy at any auto supply shop will work (assuming Aussie auto shops are similar to US auto shops...☺). It will take about 5 rolls to do the passenger compartment and trunk (boot). The stuff is fairly thin and easy to work with. Make templates from cardboard and transfer the outline onto the back side of the carpet with a marker. Then lay the carpet on a plywood sheet and trim along the marked line with an exacto knife. Spray the backing and the fixed surface with upholstery adhesive (also available at auto supply stores), wait a few minutes for the adhesive to set up and carefully position in place. I did this on my car back in 2000 intending it to be temporary, its still in the car and the beautiful interior kit I bought from E-M has never been installed.
Oh, I forgot to mention the best part, the stuff only costs about $10 USD per roll...I also don't worry about getting caught in the rain...;-)

Ben, I used the Bunnings stuff in my boot. It is pretty flexible to work with and looks ok methinks.
Carpet in the cabin was a pro job though. Mercedes carpet. One things - it is HEAPS easier to clean and vacuum than the boot. The boot stuff is more 'loopy' I think, capturing the little bits so they're stubborn to vacuum up. There are more 'cut pile' style or 'velour' looking finisheds that would probably be better in this regard, but then don't look quite as nice IMHO.
Anyway, the Bunnings stuff is heaps cheap, so buy a few pieces and play.

If you were stateside I would donate PSA backed auto carpet.
Cut to fit then peel and stick.

I want the carpet to be completely removable, was planning on sticking velcro to the car and sewing the other half of the velcro to the carpet.
