15 inch Tyres

Hey Fellas
I need to get a set of 15 inch tyres for Pace to get it rolling for delivery.

245/60/15
295/50/15

i dont want to run Avon's on this car. So wondering whats out there and whats great value? doesn't seem like much of a choice.

I just did MT SR's which are a little shorter but good in width. They are nice and sticky. The tread design is ugly, but I did some tread ware lettering on mine and I like the looks. Aside from Avons, I am almost tempted to buy another set as the 15 inch tires seem to be on the way out. There is a pic on a prior thread.

I run M/T ST's on mine. 255/60x15 front, 295/50x15 rear. I've put about 4K miles on them and been pleased with them so far. Even auto-crossed with them and they worked pretty well for a street tire.

Nitto and Mickey Thompson make drag radials that you could try. I have the Mickey Thompson ET Street SS going on my front and ET Street R going on the rear.

The 'Avenger GT' come in a good range of sizes and are well priced too.

Mickey Thompson MT ST times two.

Why not Avons?

I run Avons on my 40, they are the best tyre out there, I love them but they have sand blasted my paint on the 40 hard and flick up stones and seem to be wearing quite quickly.....maybe thats my driving lol....These are problems you dont want to happen to an alloy car. Plus buying 2k worth of tyres to sit for a year or two while the car is in build would be sacrilege.

So fitting an economy set of tyres in the right size for build / testing and rego is the go.

Thanks mate - they look the goods, but I am hearing you

I better stick with the Pace recommended MT's then too

I bought a set of four Firehawk's out of Tyre Rack for less than $1000 delivered in those sizes exactly.

Seem decent enough for grip in the dry, even at track speeds during the last Fest.

Can't say I've yet done too much wet driving to comment though on te wet performance grip, but they couldn't be much worse than any other currently available 15" tyre except the Avons.

Dunno - the MTs are half the price of the Avons and worked pretty well for me in a straight line anyway!
