Cars in coffee run
Seeking interest if I organise a run?
OK there seems to be growing popularity of this event down in BrisVegas. https://www.facebook.com/carsandcoffeebrisbane/ Cars & Coffee Brisbane | Classic Cars, Great Coffee and No Flat Brims So Im thinking of doing a run and dragging as many cobras as I can with me. Location Turbo Drive Coorparoo. Starts at 7.30 til about 9 and it takes about 1-1/2 hours from Coolum. So leaving 6am. People can jump in as we head south. Maybe we can link up with group from the southside/GC and role in together. Thoughts.... |
Spook I haven't made it along to one of these Cars and Coffee mornings yet, but talking to others who have, it would appear that arriving at 7.30 would leave you out in the street. This may change with the arrival of the winter months, but at this months's (May) event there were approx 700 cars there and the parking lot was chockers by 7.00. %/
I'm planning on being there on June 3rd. Leaving at 6.00 for what should be only a 30 min journey. The Fred Hollows Foundation is this month's featured charity. I'll find out a bit more about logistics and let you know. |
Ok cool kept us posted

Sounds good. Have been going regularly. Busy as per Don's comments.

yes based on what people are saying I'll need to leave at 4am! |
I arrived at today's Cars n Coffee at 6.35.
The entire street, the footpaths, the parking lots in front of those businesses that permitted parking for this event --- all were totally chockers! I drove through a few of the car parks -- no chance of finding a spot. I saw Greg's D-Type parked on a footpath and all sorts of other top notch cars seemingly abandoned in unlikely spots. Hard to guess at the numbers but there were hundreds of cars in attendance, and I didn't see one "ordinary" one. I drove back across Deshon St and parked in front of Rebel Gun Works and walked back. I spoke to a mate I saw there who'd arrived at 6.10 and had managed to find a spot away down the end of the allotted area. The only group I saw parked together were about twenty Mustangs but whether they'd barricaded their area off or they'd arrived at probably 4 am I don't know. The event is certainly worth a look for all the terrific cars that turn up, but I'd say forget turning up as a club or group and expecting to park together unless you were prepared to arrange some pretty heavy logistical support first. |
Bugger that I can drive 5 mins to my local and get pole!!

Don't be too put off Spook.
It's a great event for car enthusiasts. All tastes accommodated. And from what I saw there seems to be two "waves" of people attending. The dawn chorus seems to be on the move by about 8.30 just as others are arriving. If you don't mind missing out on seeing some of the early starters, getting there at around 8.30 would give you a very good chance of snaring a spot. I watched the comings and goings for twenty minutes or so around 8.45. Not as good as watching the morning arrivals into the car park at the Goodwood Revival admittedly, but interesting nonetheless. Where else in Brisbane can you see a new F12 Berlinetta next to an Austin 7 a Cayman a wicked LS3 powered Sandman panel van a Jag DType replica and a new Morgan three wheeler? I'll rug up and go along next month, park down the road where I did this time, and settle in for a few hours of car and people watching. If it's real cold I'll perhaps take along a little something to "interfere" with my coffee. ;) |
Going to Bris cars n coffee this sat.
