No I havn't gone away, i have just been dreamin.
I was listening to a government minister on the radio and I thought, that conversation could be referring to our situation and this thread. The minister was talking about "Equality" and how the govt is working hard to remove the obstacles that are in place that create inequality in society. My goodness, I had an Einstein moment and realised she could have been talking about us! So moving on from that (I could have said forward, as thats very "in" at the moment] We now have a very simple case of inequality when the depts of tpt require replica cobra builders to comply with requirements that are not imposed on "Replica" street rod builders. INEQUALITY, DISCRIMINATION, etc etc. SIMPLES. Let me know if I am wrong, I love a debate. |
Hi John,
So what's likely to be the plan....a Judicial hearing, or going to DPTI with a proposal for adding "Reproduced Historic Vehicles" (reproduced Cobras) to the conditional registration scheme for Historic, Left Hand Drive & Street Rod vehicles....or both? Sharing the dream! Cheers, Glen |
Glen, No good involving the DPTI whilst talking to ministers office.
They talk to each other if required. |
John - any updates on talks with the DPTI Minister?
Cheers, Glen |
Glen, the latest is a request from the ministerial office to view a build manual of the cars we wish to build. I am advised that this is desirable as the Street Rods have one in the build process.
I have been able to locate one for the GT40 and have located a Cobra one that has to be copied. This has been agreed to but will take a little time. When this has occurred we will be able to take the next step. I wonder how Treeve is going in NSW with this same subject? |
John - PM sent
Cheers, Glen |
John - another PM sent.

There is movement at the station!
The South Australian Transport Ministers Office has asked for information on how these vehicles are processed for registered road use in other jurisdictions/countries. Using the WWW and the experience of this forums users I would like to know, in a brief way, how easy or hard the requirements are? Our minister has indicated he would like to see a nationally approved system so that registration would be simple and acceptable between states. However if this is not possible he would proceed with a system for this state alone. So with an election due in six months moving forward on this subject is a priority. Detailed procedures are not necessary just a quick summary would be great. |
Do you have contact information for the SA Transport Minister's Office

LoBelly - what requirements do you need to satisfy for a Cobra replica to qualify for club conditional registration in Victoria?
Cheers, Glen |

John, if "Chicken Carriers Of Newstead Inc" and "Chicken Coop Classics Inc":eek: can score conditional registration as "Approved Vehicle Clubs" in Victoria, surely - as a bit of one-up-manship - the Cobra Club of South Australia should be able to romp it in with the South Australian State Government  Cheers, Glen |
Great forensic work Glen, can I add Suck Squeeze bang Blowing club, Three Amigos Inc and Sandal Wearing Actually Club to your list!
All I can add is that Victoria has a great sense of humor. Must be the cold? |

We just need to convince the SA Gov. to equal Victoria's sense of humour. Cheers, Glen |
I'm sorry, I don't get the humour. Why are you laughing at us? Stop it!
:D |
You're right. I apologise to all Victorians....and particularly those in the Suck Squeeze Bang Blowing Club (John, please note - it's a capital 'B' for Bang. Let's be serious and correct).
