Hi guys, I have just purchased an AC Cobra replica and can't where the vin stamp would be. Any Advice would help a lot. I have purchased it from pickles so have no information on the car at all... If any one knows this can and can help me would be amazing. Thank you

Didn't pickles give u the number?? Dax or python owners may be able to assist?

spookypt 07-19-2017 12:21 AM

And get her regod and bring it to the Nats! Oh and welcome to the madness.

Wyzer 07-19-2017 12:37 AM

The madness lol love it... no pickles gave me no vin number or documents at all. I will post up pictures of the engine bay soon.

ALSO does anyone know what the hit could be... it's apparently a 1997

A few engine bays shots showing the chassis, inside the boot and the diff/rear suspension would help.

Good luck if you are NSW.

First advice - get it on a hoist, get it in some good light, climb all over it and find the VIN. It is supposed to be stamped in letters larger than 7mm (no 1/4"), and 17 digits, so it should be pretty obvious. It's also supposed to be in an easily visible location so that it can be found for precisely this reason. Without papers, although you own a car, you have no proof that this car has a right to the VIN associated with those number plates. It sounds like it'll be an issue for the Vehicle Identification and Inspection Unit, who should be able to confirm the ins and outs of it. I've had dealing with them in the past and found them to be very good at what they do. And yes, they work for the RMS.

If its a python, it will be on the passenger side rail chassis next to front suspension ,could be filled with a fair bit of paint so need to look hard.

Mmmmm......... this has got a funny smell. Has the car been registered or are you just assuming. Has it got an engineers report? It will only have a vin if it has been through all due requirements and been registered.

Thank you guys, found the vin and also pickles has sent all the history and documentation for the car including the full 19 page engineers report. VERY HAPPY. turns out it is a Python Cobra as as would would expect has been built to a every high standard.

I am going to restore it to it former glory and will post my process. Thanks for your help guys and hope to see you out on the streets

That is great news and looks a very good get. That is the starting point for a very good car. Well done

Python for $20 odd k!!! Good buying!

stephen low 07-21-2017 02:27 AM

Well done Wyzer on the purchase.

The Python kit is certainly a solid foundation to build from so well done.

If Spooky isn't just shooting the breeze the suggested purchase price to me is a steal.

Hmm you better drive it like you stole it then - lol

And yes pics please.

Where are you located?

Cheers

Steve

To register it in NSW you'll need the engineers certificate in the current VSCCS layout.
