Hey all, with a move to sunny Mount Gambier region rapidly approaching, it is time to start planning my new shed (Again)

This one is not a workshop (I am leasing a workshop in Mount Gambier to do actual work and restorations from).
But this one is more to keep my finished cars (there will be a hoist for minor works), it will also be my only shed in about 10 years time when I "retire" from retail work.

I think I want a similar size to what I currently have (but not as high) in 12 metres wide by 16 metres long.
I will push the length out to 20 metres so I can make the front 4 metres an office, games room, clean assembly room for dashboards etc) also a kitchenette and bathroom.

The block has a slight slope so rear of shed will be dug into the ground and front will be filled to level it out.
I think I will only need a single access door for cars (on the side) and leaning toward a sliding door for this.

Does anyone know if there is a company producing American barn style sheds in this size without posts inside?
I don't need high sides, but I do want somewhere that I can fit a hoist and have enough height clearance.
There will also be a mezzanine above the front office section.

Does anyone have something similar?
Do you find the single access door difficult to live/work with?

Oh, And although I have had some serious offers on the Cobra (up to and above my initial price) I just cant bring myself to sell it.

SA has a scheme in place for "Club Rego" that sadly does not currently allow replica vehicles, I will push to make this happen once I relocate, but they also have a "seasonal" rego scheme, so I will use this until club rego is possible.
So I will put full rego on my car before I move south and hopefully simply transfer it across.

This will be fun!

How many cars are you imagining you’ll store in there?
I like large doors for access, and view. The Bigger the better.
Whatever you go with sounds like a sweet “little” man cave is in the making.

The problem I see with one entrance/exit is you will be moving vehicles around more than necessary to access the exit, unless you plan to make one large roll up door.

I've linked a U.S. company that makes all kinds of clear span buildings,barns, garages, etc. As I think of more I'll try to add them. Is there a reason you want a U.S. company?

I wanted a Quakers Barn but council regulations for suburbia would not allow it.

Cars stored and cars used regularly will be the key.

I "hope" to end up with about a 10 keepers (there is a seperate shed on the block already for daily drive cars).
Out of that 10, there will no doubt be 3-4 favourite cars to use.
I dont think I will have an issue with moving cars on quick jacks to sit them in there stored locations. (not as if I am going to be in a rush when I am retired)

I am likely to only end up with 4 Corona's, so there might be a Stratos in there instead.

Box when I built mine 15 x 12 (10.5) I had the option of having it postless by using heavier gauge steel but opted not to due to the cost.

STUPID ME! I'd have paid double now to not have the stupid things in the middle of the place.

There's also a new clear 2 post hoist on the market that only has 3.3m columns from memory so works better with lower roofs. FYI

where our house is, currently there is very poor 4G reception and no ADSL or NBN.
So to carry on working I will need to be somewhere that gives me a decent internet connection.
My part time wages will more than cover the lease, and part time work affords me time to do my own cars, I will also be offering to do Cobra and kit car assemblies, and Car restorations.
I already have a decent body guy who is willing to fly to me to do the work, or I can truck the vehicles to him.
Also have a great trim guy sorted out.

Once I have moved permenantly I will sell my Banana truck in Alice (because it is heavy duty and a great market for guys wanting trucks to transport off road race cars) and I will likely buy a small tilt slide vehicle.
With this I can do runs around Australia picking up and dropping off vehicles.

I found best sheds to be the cheapest. I'm currently in the process of buying the materials and making it myself which will save me 2 or 3 thousand.
