Dave, you'd need to talk to an engineer to ascertain compliance.

I understand because the Cooper calipers were listed as an approved Jaguar replacement in UK that they are acceptable.

I believe the Tenrocca option would be the lightest setup you could possibly achieve for track/performance work using Jaguar XJ6 suspension/brakes.

The Cooper calipers were made as an optional choice for Jaguar XJ6 restorers wanting a performance caliper. They copy the e-type alloy caliper but milled to suit XJ6 caliper mounting etc. According to Cooper's they weigh less than half the XJ6 cast iron calipers but I no longer have any cast iron calipers to compare.

As an indication of weight the Cooper Calipers fully fitted with S/S pistons, seals, pads, pins and retaining clips (ie ready to bolt to the Jag uprights) weigh 4.7Kg. They also utilize standard jaguar parts so maintenance is a breeze.

Yep, Me :rolleyes: and I'm told many Jaguar restorers have used then.

Back a few years using adaptor brackets was frowned upon and as mentioned in past postings here on CC, authorities insisted that calipers be fitted with seals.

Coopers are a very helpful company when I dealt with them both by phone and email. They have been around for an age and there is a heap of info on their web site. Heaps of recent date testimonials can be found here:

I've not kept up with import regs but back a ways it was worth importing one caliper at a time to save on customs duties.

I would advise if you are looking for a Alloy caliper (lighter than the cast iron units, corrosion resistant(alloy and stainless), acceptable by authorities(fitted with seals and in-distinguishable from etype calipers), ready to bolt on to Jaguar XJ6 front uprights then Coopers is a brand worth consideration.

If you ask me am I happy with mine .... the answer is yes. Although I do believe that Coopers could mill more alloy from the billet to make a lighter unit but they claim their priority is to prevent flex across the caliper. The Cooper caliper is a substantial lump of milled alloy (about the same size of the cast iron units).

Mine just bolted up using the standard jaguar bolts and shims and cleared all the necessary front end bits and pieces.

Bloomin Govt. now charging GST regardless so may as well order the pair when I get to it.

Need a few other more critical changes achieved first and trying to get shed time to make these happen.

Be bloody fastastic if they have since developed the XJ6 version of the Jag mark 11/etype calipers they have had for ages.

Also got he new pads in but am yet to take her for a good run as I discovered sloppy steering rack when I was tinkering last night-another job to the list.

Is there any reason these could not be used on a road only CR, currently I have stock XJ setup with Porterfield Carbon Kevlar pads from Spiteri's in Melbourne ... has anyone used them here you know of?
