Bonnet Gas Struts
Hi all I'm new to the AC group and looking to upgrade by bonnet and boot gas struts. Does anyone know the weight of a fibreglass bonnet and boot and also does anyone recommend any gas struts?
Thanks:)

Hi, and welcome.
The gas struts I have for bonnet/hood and boot/trunk are 200mm long extended, and around 125mm closed. They work very well at holding up the bonnet, and it would have to be a wild gust of wind to affect them. They don't have a brand on them unfortunately.
Here's a picture...

I used (2) 20lb struts on mine. Keep in mind that you are not lifting the hole "bonnet" but holding it open at whatever angle you end up with. IMO you don't want it to lift it when not latched.

hi, I recently purchased some off ebay for my build. They have listings with different lengths and force (nm if metric). I found some that have the ability to adjust the force. i.e. let the gas out, with a supplied allen key. I didn't want the bonnet and boot lid to fly up when opened. They were only about $29 (AUS) a pair. If you get these, make sure you let the gas out only a smidgen at a time. Once it's out you can't put it back. :)
