Finally going to have some space!

I finally pulled my thumb out and organised the Concreter to come over and do the floor in the back of my shed. It's been waiting for a floor for over a year now but I've been too slack to organise it.

So the concrete man arrives at 7AM tomorrow with a bobcat and a truck. Hopefully by late afternoon tomorrow I should have a heap more work space. I've been wanting to lift the body off the Cobra so I can do my exhausts, gearbox mount and driveshaft but I've had nowhere to put the body out of harms way.

By Sunday I should be able to start moving the shelves and cabinetts cluttering up the 2nd bay in my shed. I'll have so much space that the cat better look out because I'll be wanting to give him a good swing.

Cheers

By Sunday?

I thought you where coming back to the Fling this year? Is anyone from Australia coming?
Rick

Hi Rick

Looks like we are all staying home this year. Unfortunately I couldn't organise a trip back to our US office to coincide with the fling.

One of our bretherin "Bernie Knight" will be at this years Run and Gun at least. You should look him up if you are going.

We are all saving our $$ to try and get over next year. Some of the guys are looking at bringing their cars with them if they can organise a bit of sponsorship from companies like MoTec. I think it would be a truly awesome experience to go to the fling in an Aussie Cobra. I can hear the comments now... "Hey the steering wheel is on the wrong side!!"

Cheers

The Dyno challenge would be interesting too. Especially if Craig can get his 800HP+ monster on there.

Cheers

Oh well!

Sorry to hear that. Hope to see you all next year in 'wrong' hand drive Cobras:LOL:

I don't know any one that pushing 800 horses so I think he will be safe! If you do bring cars you should make it an extended trip and check out some of the rest of the country.

I will keep and eye out for Bernie Knight. How will I recognize him?

Rick

Hi to all

Thanks Mike for thinking of me and letting Rick know I will be over for the Run N Gun in mid October.

I have been 'emailing' Wayne Turpin the Run N Gun Liaison member in Indiana and have spoken to Wayne a few times on the telephone, so I guess he will point me out.

I am staying for the entire event so you may catch me at the motel near the track. I haven't booked in yet. I think it is the Holiday Inn at Collinsville Ill. Reminds me I should ring and book in.

I arrive in L.A California on the 7th of October and will spend a few days there before heading to Utah to 'KM Motorsport'. Then onto St.Louis for the Run n Gun.

At first, I was going to fly, but so many have told me to drive and take in the sights and then fly back.

After the Run N Gun I head up to Chicago, Illionios to have a look at my businesses head office there and attend a meeting.

Then on Tuesday I fly back to L.A California. The next few days will be spent driving to Las Vegas to check out Shelby American.

Does this travel plan make sense? It looks good on a map and in the diary. The only concern I have is the big drive from California to Missouri first.

As I said a few people have encouraged me to take the drive as is is fall and Colorado is apparently sensational, as is the big leg/part of the drive. **)

Rick, I am chasing a paint colour and code.

Wayne Turpin told me that car #22 of John Ciacchi at the last Run N Gun is painted in a Guardsman blue or Viking blue. I cannot find the colour in our Aussie paint Catologue.

Johns car is very similiar to the Shelby race car of Ken Miles.

The Dave Friedman - 'Shelby Cobra' - Shelby American archives 1962 -1965 hardcover bookhas a photo of this car on page 127 being loaded onto a trailer.

This colour is very close 'if not' one of either Guardsman or Viking blue.

Cannot find what the code etc. for Guardsman blue and Viking blue is.

Don't worry to much as I have asked Wayne Turpin to follow up on the colour with John Ciacchi for me.

Will catch up soon :3DSMILE:

The concrete is all done and they did a fantastic job. It's gone off enough to walk on but I'm going to leave it a few days befor I move the shelves and cuboards in.

Got a bad cold at the moment so I'm not doing much at all but it makes waiting for concrete to dry easier.

Sounds like you are going to have an excellent trip Bernie, I wish I was going.

The viking blue is a great color. Are you going to have any stripes?

Cheers

more space

Hey mike i have 3 sheds in my back yard and still not enough room . I think i will have to buy acreage next so i can put up a really big shed. just 1 .
I finally got my cobra wired up and running with the motec ,talk about your steep learning curve . just keep hitting f1 and you eventually will find most info on how to do it.
i put it on the same dyno i used when the car was first on the road with the factory lexus 4.0 v8 ecu. got 114 kw at the wheels just by changing to a motec and a very rough tune which i did with the help of the wide band lambda. i got 157 kw. not bad for just an ecu change. i cant wait to get the turbo on it. :3DSMILE:

what a shame we could make the fling .

next year for sure yea.
Scott.

the color is guardsman blue i look at this car everyday and it was my grandfathers pride and joy

BMK 08-02-2011 03:53 AM

Mustang man

Yes Guardsman blue was the colour I painted the Cobra. I found the colour codes and had a Melbourne painter paint it using Wimbledon white stripes and Porsche fly yellow for the fender stripe.

Interestingly that was nearly seven years ago and I have just finished re painting and placing white stripes with black pin lines on my GT40. :D it is never ending this car stuff....
