Can I get some Aussie help???

I flew up to Las Vegas this past weekend with a rather nice Aussie chap wearing Harley attire... The conversation went from Harley's to Cobra's to Falcon's to holden's... (he was a holden drag racer) Other than that a rather nice chap!!!!

Anyway, I told him that with my military experience I was pretty familiar with converting km to miles (multiply by .6) and converting miles to km (multiply by 1.6)... But I never knew the formula for kw to hp or vice versa... Much to my surprise he didn't know either... Any help would be much appreciated...

Is it something like money???? It takes a zillion Aussie dollars for 1 American dollar... Is kw to hp the same way??? Inquiring minds want to know????

thanks guys...

The conversion rates are:

(kW) = (HP) x 0.7457

(HP) = (kW) x 1.341

That information will only cost you 1 American dollar:)

I only accept Aussie dollars:D

yeah..but!!

The trick is doing those conversions without a calculator :D

No wonder the harley Aussie didnt know.....you did say he was a holden driver didnt you. %/

You all take care

Thanks guys!!!

Jason,

So for an old country boy like me,,,, I can say that approximately 3/4 hp = kw or 400hp is roughly 300kw or take 300kw and add a third (100) to get 400hp... close enuf for me.... Just don't confuse me with the money exchange rate... I'll send Aussie dollars...

Rebel 1,

Yeah he was holden guy!!! If I hadn't been in 1st class I would have moved seats!!!

Thanks again guys... It will help when I see you chaps posting kw...

Hi all,

Just arrived back after sailing the oceans. Went through the edge of a cyclone but survived due to the consumption of a new seasickness cure called "No.1 Beer"

Wasn't that crash hot in Noumea but the Isle of Pines is great. They have a new thing there called the micro bikini. Not bad you wait till they lay down to see what colour it is:3DSMILE:

I can remember seeing a sign on a '32 Ford Coupe around the corner that showed 400 horses going off towards the horizon hitched up to his 32 coupe like a stage coach. It is a great graffic but I wonder what 300 kilowatts would look like hitched up to a '32 Ford coupe

Im still talk in HP but my son who hangs around with RICE Car nuts talks in KW all the time.

Hey, I still have trouble coverting Aussie dollars to US dollars. It was easier when our dollars was .50 cents or there abouts now it is up to the dizzy heights of .70 cents.

Will be able to spend up in the States in October :3DSMILE:

Cheers

Bernie
