No, the overall gearing (trans gearing / diff ratio / tyre size) of a car, and it's total vehicle weight are very important when it comes to determining what induction will work for your application. For example, if you fit a large camshaft, single plane intake and 750 DP Holley to a 1450kg Mustang it will run like a dog if you retain standard style 3.0 diff gears and a C4 auto with an 1800rpm torque convertor. Change to a high-stall convertor or a manual trans, and fit some 4.11 diff gears, and the combo all comes together. The car transforms from feeling sluggish and lazy, to being the sort of car that you can cross a few lines of traffic while doing a burnout leaving car shows. Not that you'd do anything like that though..... :p So the engine can remain the same, but the car can feel like night and day depending on other factors. When you told me what you were running, that proved that you could easily run a single plane manifold and large single carb without a problem. Wow, that made a short question into a long answer... |
