do i.........
have something to crow about(sorry you gen 3 guys)?
At the track the other day there was one of those 300kw hsv's with discs the size of my rims and calipers as big as the its head rests Nice looking car, worth how much??? but still couldn't catch me  |
I haven't yet moved to the dark side but lets just have a think about this one.
I think I could beat a v8 supercar around Wakefield driving a stock datson 120y. My grandmother would have to be driving the other car though. Maybe you should be bragging about your driving prowess rather than your cars ability. Then again, the poor gen 3 was probably tapping it's little head off and struggling for oil. |
I think driver skill has a lot to do with it too. Also how far the owner is prepared to push their pride and joy. What's a GTS300 worth these days 70-80K?
I've also been a bit dissapointed with the performance of the GTS 300. It's no feather weight at about 1700KG and from dyno runs I've seen they only get about 225KW at the back wheels. Catching and passing are two very different things. Were were you faster than him? His lap times may have been quicker but you holding him up in the corners and under brakes. The mustang would probably be lighter than the GTS and if your 347 produces the numbers you might hose him down the straight. Cheers |
ok ok I am sorry !
This post was purely in gest ! I am not serious about this! I was just trying to get a reaction(not the one I got but life goes on) Geez I think I better stick to asking questions !!! I thought these forums were about fun and learning........did I get that wrong too? I dont take going to wakefield seriously, I dont time myself and the last thing I care about is who beats me, I have had mini's overtake me in corners I only go there so i can use what I cant use on the street |
There's no need to be sorry. I know what a well setup mustang can do and it's quite feasable to beat a GTS300 in one. You should check out the awesome Mustangs racing in Apendix J, they pretty much rule the roost.
I'm not biased either way on Ford v GM so I didn't catch on that you were posting for a reaction. As for being rounded up by Minis, I'd believe it. I club raced a 1275 GT a few times and it was a quick machine on the track. Lifting the inside rear wheel right through the sweepers. Very quick in and out of the corners and like a GoKart to drive. Blowing up CV joints got to be a pain so I stuck to street driving. Cheers |
Hey guys
I have had a ton of track experience having done two years work at Flemington Racecourse on the ride on. Went to sleep once and took out two hundred metres of guard rail. Watch me at Wakefield. %/ Particularly if I have been with Mike Moore in his room. %/ Mike has a habit of pulling things to bits as well in his room during a dozen or so beers. Engine and mess every where. May tend to nod off. I do have an afternoon sleep now  Cheers guys its tracktime  - sorry bed time:3DSMILE: Bernie Mt. Gambier South Australia |
