There were heaps!!!!! On the Sunday, When I lined up for the first run of the day, I notice a big clunk in the front end when I braked at a very slow speed. All of the shims on the front top control arm had fallen out leaving an inch of play in my camber and 1/2 inch in caster. To make matters wurse, on my second run I lost the down shift from 3rd to 2nd. So...an example of turn one was...Brake very hard at 100m from 180ish down to 100. Just before lockup slam it in to FIRST!! Four wheel lock up and sideways in to turn one at around eighty clicks and start working that steering wheel big time! Lets just say I had the only standing ovation from the pit lane crowd for the day. They especially liked it when I crossed the finishing line backwards on my last lap! So I wasn't the fastest. But I reckon I had the most fun driving!:D |
BRUTAL driving style !!! **)
Remind me never to let you drive my car in a competitive event.... :p |
Finishing backwards reminds me of a Qld guy who put a strong Clevo into his RMC Cobra. Genuine 600+ horsepower. First time at the drags, he had a few aborted runs due to a lack of traction. Last run, he tried to get a full pass in. At 1000ft, the car snapped sideways and he jumped on the brakes. Slid sideways, and ended up going backwards through the finish line:
11.1 seconds at 126mph with the tyres locked up and smoking, and the car travelling backwards.... |
