Speedtrial info in today

Hi all,

Sorry about the new Thread.

But just openned my mail and there is a brochure in it from
Gary Grant C.A.M.S Director and the 'Geelong Speedtrials' organiser.

The comment that Saturday (Snaken) is the modern day is right.

It appaers that the Porsches, Ferrari's and touring type cars will run on Saturday.

Sunday is all the older vehicles and the closed concourse area that we have talked about get in at 0830 for.

Perhaps we can do Saturday as a 'Geelong Speedtrials" run as the grassed concourse area is available for us to park in, This allows Sunday for the Deli brunch for those that have nothing to do but play cars.

Any thoughts.

What do you think Bryan. %/

I am happy to drive up to South Melbourne on Sunday with the Geelong cars!!

I will be at the Geelong house that weekend.

Speed trials

Hi Bernie,
I have found the only way to guarantee a premium parking spot is to get there before 8:00am.
I'll be there both days.
By the way, the Geelong Speed Trials is the reason I own a Cobra today.
About 20 years ago I saw a 427 Cobra (proberly real) run down Richie Boulevard and I said then "I have to have one of them".
So the Cobra was a 50th birthday present to my self.:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:
Cheers all,
Bryan

Hi Bryan,

Will see you there early on Saturday. Will play it to see what happens Sunday. Talk on Saturday with you.

Re your exhaust do the two hotdogs butt hard up or do you have them spaced apart on each side with exhaust pipe in between?

I went to a leading racecar exhaust place and the guy there walks out with a 18" hotdog wraps a rag around it and pushes it onto the end of the exhaust.

'It's not brain surgery', he says. 'Just space them as far apart as
possible with a piece of pipe between them'. He then suggested a larger diam piece between the hotdog outer caseing to hide the two hotdogs.

Something to think about. At the momment I only have the one 500mm hotdog on each side.

Will ring you to talk this one through.

Cheers

Pipes Pipes wait till ...........

Hi all,
Bernie I'll be there about 7:30am Saturday and Sunday.
Re pipes. The two hotdogs are but welded together as there is no room to space them meaning I have effectivly a 36" hotdog inside the stainless outer pipe.
See attached (rough) drawing.
Cheers,
Bryan

Thanks Bryan,

That makes sense.

I have the option of welding an additional hot dog on or building a new muffler/pipe and wrapping it in steel wool which I am told is better than fibreglass.

Will keep you posted.

At the moment it is louder than a race car at measured 97.5db
and is really offensive. I think that the current hotdog has little in the way of deadening glass or fill in it.

Have had a set of straight out pipes on with no muffler and it is just as loud but sharper.

Like the tire psi pressures I will suck it and see...

cheers
