Air Conditioning

Hi Guys,

Any body put air conditioning in their Cobra?

Yes, yes I know you just have to take the roof off.

I will be driving it daily and will have the hard top on 95% of the time (side windows also).

Does any body know of an air con kit that will fit into a Cobra?
I'm pretty sure I can fit some of the companents in the passenger foot well.

Any ideas welcome.

Maybe one of the older style under dash units could fit, they arent very efficent but may work well in the small cabin of a closed cobra.

Also I think there are kits advertised in alot of hot rod magazines that are very compact.

I have been toying with the idea of fitting a/c.

I'm not surprised considering where you live. Jeez, you guys have an anual boat race in a river with no water!:D

Cheers

That boat race was called off afew years ago, because it rained and the river had water in it.

Hi Cameron

Removed the air conditioning system (Ford Mustang ?) about a year ago because their is really no use for an air conditioning system in Switzerland (Cobra was built in AZ, USA. OK, there it might make sense having it installed).

A/C

Try a search for "Vintage Air"
I was going to put a/c in my car and I know that this was the best fit and least noticable inside. Cost was less than $3,000 US.
I had a long thread on this topic going back in '02 in "All Cobra Talk" as I remeber. I bought a Cadillac EXT as daily driver instead, and I can tow the Cobra with it.
Good luck,

Thanks for the assistance guys.

$3000 US. Might be cheaper to move to Switzerland.:3DSMILE:

Hi all,

I think the current agent for Vintage Air is Ray Aldrick at TCR in Melbourne.

True Colour Restoration TCR is mainly involved with Street Rods and have a number of the small heaters and air con. units.

Cheers

Vintage Air's smallest heater/evaporater unit (mini-something) sells here for under $400, and fits under my dash.

FYI - My wife's only requirement for this project was A/C...how could I say no?

Anyway, for my build, I had to design my own compressor bracket. My total out-of-pocket for air-conditioning was under $1000...including polished compressor.
