List of suppliers
Hey there everyone, I am sitting here bored out of my skull so I decided to start makeing a list of all the different parts, ie accesories I need to get.
Can anyone who has been building there car (in Aus) provide web site address for where ya got your bits? Thanks again. |
Hiya boxhead..good to hear things are going well. Bet your enjoying the build.
Most bright work can be got from Don Pilling at Snake Bite in Queensland. Phone 07 5529 0877. He sells all the bits and pieces...screens, roll bars, wipers & motors, bezels, bonnet and boot stays..give him a call and get a catalogue. Nice fella too...used to own an RMC... now putting together a Robnel |
Thanks Les, I will give him a call on monday

Hi Boxhead,

Thanks Wildac I have sent them an e-mail with a request for prices.

Hi Boxhead,
Some things might be best purchased from your kit supplier. That way its their fault if they dont fit. That said I ordered my bumpers and overriders from DRB. The parts have Snake Bite stamped on them. Auto Spares Galore has many parts for classic cars. I got my lucas lights there. Also picked up a 2nd hand wiper system from a triumph (3 blade) for a reasonable cost. Auto Spares Galore They are at 924 Burwood Hwy, Ferntree Gully PH: 9758 3644 Doug Pearce is also helpfull with parts and ideas. Doug Pearce Engineering Factory 13, 91-99 Beresford Road, Lilydale PH: 9739 4222 I also got quite a few parts from Europa Spares in England. Its not cheap but its great stuff (service is prompt). www.europaspares.com Good Luck Cameron |
Hi cameron02,
What did the wiper system set u back?, i'm looking into them at the moment, i'm looking at $400roughly for a 3 blade set up using a mini motor and arms and wheel boxes. Spares galore have a amazing range of parts and i'm sure i'll be getting plenty of them. Cheers Robo |
Hi Robo,
The blades were $17 ea X 3 = $51 Arma were $19 ea X 3 = $57 Motor, cable and associated bits was $225 (bargin) Total = $333 Make sure your motor is at least 2 speed to pass ADR. Regards Cam |

:3DSMILE: The prices you are quoting are certainly cheaper than anywhere I have seen. For the small items I have found these guys very cheap. www.finishline.com. %/ I recently sent an order to Finishline in the States and received all the bits back and very quickly. Just try and keep orders ( I have found ) under $200 or you will attract the Customs duty. Things like door latches, leather door straps, brake vents, badges and those static cling decals all come from there. Another idea is to ring Roger Howard at VDO in Heidelberg Victoria. His business Howard Instruments make VDO gauges with the Smith faces, This allows you to use all electric gauges but with a genuine look. He supplied my gauges. You can see them on my dash photo on the camera. Cost $1250 with a clock and all. (2 big and six small, all sender units etc.) Agree that Don Pilling is very good and takes care in wrapping everything and sending it promptly. He has a wide variety of things. I purchased my Mota Lita wheel. gear lever etc etc. from him. Have fun Cheers Bernie Bernie Knight Mt. Gambier South Australia, |
Hi Bernie,
The motor was 2nd hand. Still a good deal. Cameron |
Hi Cameron
:3DSMILE: From what I have heard its pretty hard to find a faulty one of these, they just keep going. Its the associated parts that are worn or give problems. The little wiper boxes are another thing as they get very worn and give trouble. Also the ends and nuts get worn also. I would certainly suggest to purchase these new/repro. I purchased the whole 'shooting match' from Don Pilling in Labrador Queensland at Snake Bite as it was not worth the trouble mucking around chasing the bits. Any I did get were - as I said - worn or stripped. All part of building a car. Cheers Bernie Bernie Knight Mt. Gambier South Australia. Out cruising in the sun :MECOOL: |
Hi Cameron 02,
Thanks for that info.:) Just goes to show you how important shopping around is as theres more than one way to skin a cat. Cheers Robo |
Yes, I think its worth waiting and researching.
I have not been buying things until I need them (even though I have worked out exactly what I want long before). That way when you see a special deal or bargin you can take advantage of it. I've saved heaps:D But some how I'm still over budget:( Cameron |
