Hi all,

Anyone know what the major differences in the series 1, 2,and 3 front ends are?
and is it possible to convert a series1 to a series3?

Finally what price would one expect to pay for the above?

Hi there Wildac, I just bought a series 3 jag front complete with near new rotors, only need a ligh skim to knock off the surface rust.
I bought it out of the Melbourne Tradeing Post by searching on the web, it only cost me $200.00 which I thought was great value.

I will be replaceing all bushes and ball joints, also new wheel bearings and seals too, I will o/haul the calipers and fit new pistons and seal kits.

From what I know the series 3 jag had larger brakes.

Sounds like you got your self a bargain there, way to go.

Been checking some of the Jag sites for info on the front ends and from what i can gather its to do with solid vs vented rotors and 2,3 and 4 spot calipers(please correct me if wrong).

Going to look at a series3 daimler sovereign today, hopefully it'll be ok.%/

I have the early type Jag front end on my early Contemporary 1986. I have just converted my front brakes for the fifth time. The first set was the solid Jag rotors with Jag Calipers. The second conversion was with Vented Jag Rotors. The third conversion was Wilwood Dynalite Calipers with 12.19 Wilwood rotors. The fourth conversion was to Wilwood Superlight Calipers still using the 12.19 Rotors. And now the most expensive and hopefully the final conversion 6 piston Superlight Calipers with another new set of 12.19 Rotors.

If you want great brakes you can skip all the brake setups I did and go right for the six piston Calipers the first time.

Of coure if you want to run larger than 15" wheels forget everything I said and go right for the 14" rotors and Big six piston calipers.

FYI the six piston Superlights cost $250.00 USD Each and the Rotors 43.00

Maybe this can save you some time and money.

Oh yea this is a track only car and I want the best brakes I can get for High Speed stops.

Hey Cranky: I have a later model Contemporary ('96) that came with Brembo vented rotors and Wilwood competition 4-piston front calipers. I plan on doing some autocrossing before long and will soon find out just how good these brakes are. How much better were your brakes after changing to the 6-piston superlites? Rich

I am installing the six piston calipers right now and our season doesn't start till May. So It will be a while before I can comment on the new brakes.
