Check out my gallery. There are a heap of progress pics of my Classic Revival:Aussie Mike's Gallery
You should also check out Leeroy's gallery here: Leeroy's Gallery

And Boxhead's Gallery too: Boxhead's Gallery

From your comments it sounds like you are interested in the style of the flares on the front guards and the lip on the rear guards. The CR is very close to the 427SC body and has the right lip on the rear guards and larger flares on the front guards. You realy notice it when you have one sat next to any other Aussie Cobra.

There was an article in Australian Classic Car last year that compared Ian's demo car with an original 427. Despite the modern touches Ian has done to his car like 17" wheels, Carbon fiber dash etc when you look past that the body shape is very close between the two.

Cheers

I have added some more body pics to my gallery for you to checkout. The body comes it great finished condition and requires very little to have it ready to paint to as Mike says looks real close to the 427SC

Hi Leeroy,

I was just checking out your new pictures. It's looking fantastic sitting on it's wheels and makes me even happier that I chose the OZwheels.

You mentioned you were changing your roll bar mounts around. I think you've stuffed up a bit, the roll bar is suposed to go behind the drivers seat not in front.:D

Cheers

Leeroy 01-13-2004 09:05 PM

Hi Mike,
thought it was a bit uncomfortable in the seat. Anyway I thought we were all at work working hard:LOL:

Working hard.. Who me?

It's 3:20 and that's chockie bar O'Clock. Time to have a break and look at what's hapening on the Cobra Forum.

Been trying to ring Tom and find out when my wheels will be finished.

Cheers

leeroy...doesnt your cobra have slots for the sidepipes? is that standard with the classic revival kits? coz i definately want sidepipes!

Aussie Mike 01-13-2004 10:07 PM

My wheels should be ready in 2 weeks, Hooray!!!

inazuma_x, the Guards don't have the cut outs for the sidepipes since some people like the traditional Cobra roadster look rather than the SC racer style. There is a gap between the inner guard and the end of the foot box that's made for the pipes to run through and you just cut out the sill if you want run sidepipes.

It took me 2 minutes with a Jigsaw to to cut out the hole. I'll neaten it up when the pipes are finished and when I've worked out how much clearance I'll need with the engine rocking back and forth.

Cheers

Leeroy 01-13-2004 10:07 PM

no they leave that up to you to do as it would depend on your exhaust design. Aussie Mike the sidepipe mestro so look at his pics for cutout size etc.
Leeroy.
ps/ hows the crunchie Mike?

Aussie Mike 01-13-2004 10:17 PM

The Crunchie bar was very nice thanks Leeroy.

I have to say that the no sidpipes roadster style looks good, it really shows off the cars narrow hips and the transition into the rear guards. I think the sidepipes can take some attention away from the Cobras great body lines.

Inazuma, here's a shot of the inner guard area Headers This pic shows where the pipes run down towards the sill area.

Here's where the pipes come out Pipes I've still got to trim the guard to make clearance since the motor can torque over quite a bit. I don't want the pipes hitting the bodywork and damaging the paint. I'll probably also glass in a bit of reinforcing around the back or the cut out to stiffen up the lower edge of the guard.

Cheers

Leeroy 01-13-2004 10:25 PM

"narrow hips", "transition into the rear", "great body lines"
sure your talking about Cobras?

inazuma_x 01-13-2004 10:30 PM

hmmm...are there any kits that come with the holes pre-cut?

Aussie Mike 01-13-2004 10:32 PM

I could have said shaped like Maralyn Munroe but I thought I'd be polite. Great looking set of headlights there :p

I think you will find that prety much all the kits come without holes cut out. It's no big deal, remember the original Cobras had nothing special there, just some holes cut in the guard for the pipes to come through.

Cheers

Your car is looking very good Leeroy, makes me sad that I didnt get the chance to get a look at it while I was in Melbourne last month.
Have you painted it white or is that your gelcoat finish?

Leeroy 01-14-2004 03:02 PM

Hi David,
no thats just the gelcoat. I was hoping to catch you over December as Mike said you were around but maybe next time. But was passing a panel shop yesterday and saw a GT40 out front drying so I went in and he had another GT40 being finished. Got to sit in it and make brooom brooom noises(I thought cobras were tight). After he allowed me back in his workshop he said he does all "Roaring Forties" (GT40) cars and has done heaps of cobras and some winning ones as well??. He only repairs & paints f/glass cars and very nice jobs at that. So today he is coming in to see mine and advise and make up some color panels to decide what I might like. I wont to remove body soon and paint underneath & engine bay so need to decide soon on color.
I'm tossing up between BRG/stripes or Ford Blueprint/stripes, kids say they wont ride in it if I go with BRG!! Hard to know what BRG would be like as I have not seen a real BRG cobra but I did wont the traditional roadster look as I will be going with underbody exhaust rather than sidepipes. Anyone, any pics on BRG cobras would be great.
Cheers Leeroy
