cylinder numbering
OK Guys,
To settle a friendly arguement,can any one tell me the cylinder numbering and firing order for a 5litre HO mustang motor. cheers BJ |
The 5.0 HO motors use the 351W firing order of 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
cylinders 1-4 are the driver's side cylinders 5-8 are the passenger side (in Australia !) cylinders 1 and 5 are at the front of the motor, and work their way back. |

Just to clarify what Craig said, cylinders 1-4 are on the driver's side in Australia, which is the RIGHT SIDE in any country. So, 1-4 RIGHT SIDE; 5-8 LEFT SIDE looking from the rear face of block forward.

I think My Ford 351 Cleveland is the same.

Cylinder #1 is always the forward most cylinder (easy to see with no head)
Because the 2 forward most pistons (and every opposing cylinder from there back) use the same journal, the easiest way to see which bank is #1 is to see which piston is the most forward. |
