Complete car recommendations.

Hi all,
I'm just starting out my pre purchase research and am after some advice.
After a lot of soul searching, and a long look in the mirror re my ability to complete projects, I've realised I will never build my own replica.
Nevermind.
The good news is, I've decided I can afford to buy a completed vehicle.
I think.
The budget will be about 70-80K, I hope. 50-60K for a second hand vehicle with very low mileage would also be considered.
It will be, if not a daily driver, a frequently driven car, so long term reliability, practical handling and a few mod cons like stereo are high on the priority list. Not as high as doing donuts in the carpark at work, but high.

I'm basically after some opinions as to what wise heads on this forum would do with that budget in Victoria in 2004.
Mark.

Hi Mark, give me a call or drop me an email and we'll chat.
Don't rush in. Join the Cobra Car Club in Melbourne and talk to as many members as you can.
You should be able to go for a ride in a few of the members cars and check out the different models from different manufacters.
You'll should pick up a nice ride with that money.

Plastic....I wouldn't do anything with that Budget in Victoria....I'd use part to move to Queensland and start the good life.

You would even buy a nice cobra with the change. :D

Reb'

He only wanted opinions from the wise.

Not QLDers.

;) But are Queensland Cobra's left or right hand drive? Do you guys drive on the same side of the road as we do in Australia?

REPTYL, I'll definitely get in touch. Maybe next time I'm out visiting the old folks in Upper Beacy!

REPTYL 01-15-2004 04:50 AM

two posts in and already hanging it on our northern friends.

Mark - if you're allowed to do donuts in your work carpark, I want to work there too !

Good luck with your research. I'd personally go for a 1 or 2 year old car, and let the original owner take the hit pricewise. Then you get a good car with (hopefully) the bugs sorted out, and all for less money. Some people never like hearing their car referred to as "Jim's old car", so they'd prefer to spend the extra to be the first owner. Horses for courses, I suppose...

Welcome aboard.

Hehe plastic .. Welcome aboard mate.

Now..get this straight ;)

We drive on the same side of the road
We make our right turns from the right lane, not the left lane
We dont have tops cuz it dont rain...well, hardly ever :3DSMILE:
We dont have horseless carriages running down the center of our roads.

Damn it!...they're breedin like rabbits down there

Hi Plastic

:3DSMILE:

Well you have had advice from the top - El Presidento - Jason the REPTYL.

Welcome aboard. Get along to the next meeting if you can. I try and get to a few meetings so may meet you there. It's a round trip of over 1,000 K's
(600 mile) for me but...

Jason the next big day would be the All Ford Day at Deakin University at Geelong.

Would ber a good opportunity to check out a few Cobras and talk with owners.

Plastic , as has already been said, you have a good entry point at the $$$$ level you are talking. I often see some good cars in the club magazine Snaketales. I can recal an RMC there for sale at a little over $40,000.

%/

My first car was an RMC and they are well made, comfortable and you sit well down in the car which is a real bonus on long trips.

Before you buy a car talk with members on the Forum here or at a club meeting as we know MOST cars, or can quickly find out.

Hope to meet you soon.

All the best in your search
