5Litre Water pump
OK Ford nuts,
I have a 5 litre HO Motor with a reverse rotation water pump. Thanks to our wonderful ADR rules I have had to convert to straight gas hence leaving an array of ugly tensioner pulley's and the like.Is there a way of changing the water pump so I can run the standard crank, water pump, alternater configuration and tidy every thing up. It is an '87 model windsor, and also is there brackets available to make the Mototcraft alternater adjustable? cheers BJ |
Hi BJ,
Adrian S put a normal rotation water pump and tooth belt drive on his late model 351 Windsor. Check out his gallery for pics. Hopefully he will get on here and tell you where he got the bits from. Cheers |

Hi BJ. Here is another option.
Robert Logan of Roaring 40's in Melbourne makes a compact alternator bracket which mates with the normal rotation water pump. I think the pulleys and pump are straight out of the Ford SVO catalogue. |
Hi BJ,
I did as Mike suggested and replaced the reverse rotation pump for a normal rotation. Initially I looked at just changing the impeller but the holes in the timing chain cover were facing the wrong direction. I managed to get a normal rotation timing chain cover from Doug Pearce in Lilydale and picked up another pump & gasket from Performance Warehouse in Nunawading - nothing flash but does the job. It's a bit of a job having to change the timing chain cover but it let me run the gilmer drives & belt which look cool ! |
Thanks for the info Adrian,I am hoping I don't need to change the timing cover. Cheers
