Avo Coil over Shocks

Hi Guys & Gals

Looking for a pair of AVO adjustable coil over shocks (600 lbs +) to fit a DRB Jag rear end.

Second hand's fine as long as in good condition (Spending too much on the car - what's new)

Any help?

Currently have Hot Shock Billet adjustable type with 450 lb springs (Too soft / too low at the back end

 )

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Peter,

The price on AVOs new isn't to bad. You can get them through Austrack Motosport in Sydney. Give them a call before you go to far down the second hand path as you might not save yourself to much money.

Cheers

Mike

Thanks Mike,

I memory serves me right (which it probably doesn't) the cost new is $800 to $850.

For a good shock / spring setup it doesn't seem much, but recently I've been spending too much on the snake in the shed:rolleyes: and am simply trying to justify to myself that any more dosh spent is "well spent" (patience is not my best virtue).

You DRB Jag specialists - what length of shock should I be looking for to fit comfortably?

Hello again everyone, I am wanting to order my springs and shockies today but I left my paper work at home, does anyone know the part numbers for the springs and shocks as needed for the Classic Revival kit?
It is no biggy as I have all the info at home but am keen as mustard to order these bits.

AVO

PCC,

I have a set of AVOs with springs for sale that came off my Superformance MKIII. The AVOs have a little over 7000 miles on them and are in very good condition. The reason I changed was I went to the Bilsteins that come on the new Superformance cars. How about $300.00 plus freight

You've got mail!

Sorry for the minor hi-jack PCC,

Millennium... What is you assessment of the difference between the AVO and the Bilsteins on the MkIII... The AVO are adjsutable and the Bilsteins fixed, yes? Do you miss the adjustment?

Thanks

Cameron

Anyone else have a set they want to get rid of? Like PCC, I'm spending way too much on the beast but have a wish list a mile long.
When I put the car on some rubber, the height setup was all wrong so I'm either going to get adjustable shocks or re-temper the springs or perhaps both. I'm running Jag front and rear so thats 6 of 'em I need.

Thanks,
Adrian.

AVO

Cameron,

In my humble opinion the spring rate on the older SPF cars with the AVO shocks is too stiff. They work fine on smooth roads but make the rear end of the car pogo over a dip at speed. The new SPF cars have a lower spring rate along with the Bilstein shocks. So my car handles much better over dips with the Bilstein shocks and new springs. And trust me the roads around here have a lot of dips.

Thanks Millennium200,

There are a fair number of dips around here too! How is the ride height, and have you had them on a track?

Cameron

millennium200 07-06-2004 10:42 PM

Cameron,

The ride height is adjustable, so my car is set at the recomended 27 inches all the way around at the fender flair. No tracks close by and besides I am to old for that. My wife and I have driven across the country once in the SPF and are planning another 4000 + mile trip shortly. Long trips are more fun than race tracks for me.

Never too old, just less inclined.. :)

Thanks for the input

Cameron

PCC,

I received one email on 7-6-04 about springrate, adjustability, shipping, etc. which I replied on the same evening I received it. I sent the email to you personally instead of CC.
