I Want My Body Back

Sorry but needed to vent my frustration in not having my body back from the painters. I dropped it off close to 3mths ago and it still looks like its bloody weeks away. The thing that really is crazy is he is only finish painting engine bay & undercoating the rest. Every time he says he is painting it he's never there!!!! Whats he going to be like when he wants to paint the final color??
Run out of things to do on the car so the wife thinks my time should be spent doing jobs around the house. Please help!!!! going stir crazy. Must be all those fumes they sniff they seem to loss a sense of time **)

Leeroy,

Take your body back and find a new painter - 3 months (blow me down). you could build a house in that time!

Bernie

He's the guy who was going to paint my car after finishing Leeroys. He's not my painter any more.

Cheers

Seen any pods around lately?

My opinion- Dump the guy now- loss of trust!

Leeroy,
In my opinion only, I would dump the bum immediately!!! He has destroyed your trust and deprived you of at least two months of use of your car. You will never forget the total lack of caring on his part and this will be a thorn in your side from now on.
Pick your car up now, find a new guy & set some form of production ethic first & get the car painted.
Trust me, this will be the best thing for all concerned parties after this much lost time.

Well finally things started to happen. Over the weekend it was finished outside with under/guide coat and I must say the work he has done to prep. really showed up when looking at it wet with not a ripple to be seen. He really has done a nice job. So all that needs to be done now is the engine bay and body deadner and its home so that should be next weekend by all his estimations%/ thanks for your concerns
Cheers Leigh

Leeroy,

Thats great news. All good things come to those who wait... and wait. Your colour scheme should look fabulous .

Now if I can get my Cobra out of the exhaust shop the force will be back in balance.

I might be powered by the dark side but there is a greater force keeping my Cobra in the exhaust shop.

Regards,

Phil

Hi Phil
maybe the painter & exhaust guy are related. **)

Hi Leeroy,

I will be getting my car painted in a few weeks. I have not had a quote yet and I was wondering wether you could send me a private emailing telling me how much they charged you for the job.

Actually, now that I think about it, how much do all you guys and girls reckon is a fair price to paint a fibreglass Cobra.

I'm looking at 2pak with stripes.

Aussie Mike 06-07-2004 11:49 PM

I think mine should be painted in 2-pack with stripes* for this years nationals.

*2-pack highfill primer and "20 minutes with a roll of masking tape and a spray can stripes" that is :D

Cheers

Mike,

I look forward to seeing your special paint scheme at the nationals , it will mean you made it.

Cameron , expect to pay $5K + for a good paint job or even a bad one. You don't how good it is until its finished. Make sure you look at the finished job from all angles including laying on the ground. Bright Sunlight is best way to view.

Classic Revivals are pretty good out of the mould and my painter reckons it owed him more than he charged me.

Regards,

Phil

My paint job is to be around $5-6k ?? depending on time spent. He has recessed all joins in the body and filled with flexable polyester and then prep. and covered first 2 coats of polyurethane, then 5 caots of undercoat before he will do final caot. Final color is metallic gery so he will do 2 coats of balck before top coat, then clear. He also is doing stone guard in boot & underneath. So final $ cost not yet final. Phil I will send you an PM with some questions on your CR.
Cheers Leeroy

Touchy subject is "What do you pay for a paint job".

Its one of those areas where you hope that the sprayer can deliver what you expect. If not, then you will never be happy.

Mine initially cost $8,500 (12 coats) in 2-pac (a lot of dosh). However, although a good finish it did have runs here and there.

My partial respray cost $880 (far more reasonable) and matches in well to the existing.

Glad I don't have to go through it all again

:(
