Who is out there driving their toys?

Had a visit this week from a GT40 on the way to Adelaide South Australia.

Just happened to notice this guy come into the store and wandered out to have a chat.

I was very impressed with the car and the finish that he had built to completion. The 'Roarin Forties' GT40 was purchased as a rolling chassis and he built it up over the last 18 months.

Was good to see that he ( like me 16,560 ) has done nearly 11,400 km in his GT40 since August last.

The 2,000 round trip from Frankston area, to Adelaide will no doubt add to this.

He would not give me the keys however. Don't blame him.

Just wonder, how many other GT40, Cobra owners are putting big kilometres/miles on their toys.

Cheers

Bernie,

it's unfair to see a thread get left to gather dust.. I'll buy in here.

I drive mine as my everyday transport, in fact it's the only daily drive I have..

I put about 5-600 k's a week on it in the course of a normal week. More for weekend outings.

And I love every minute... :3DSMILE:

Cameron

Thanks, yes just an observation on the day and was wondering who drives and who races.

Noticed a Post with you saying the SPF should be in Australia in August. That's good news so you may have it at Wakefield Park?

Cheers

With luck, the car should be here end of Aug... Tight, but I'm planning to be at the Nationals.... Should almost have time to take of the shrink wrap..

Bernie, I have clocked up nearly as many k's on my daily driver to and from work building my car and still no end in sight. Sure hope to be able to add lots of k's to the clock when its done though. Was the GT40 dark silver with black strips?
Cheers Leeroy.

Hi Bernie,

I use mine as often as possible.

Always draws a crowd when picking up the kids up at school.

I remember one occasion when the school kids were round the car like bees in a honey pot to the point where I had to drive forward to get them out of the way.

Not many long trips made (no roof, no soft top), but still managed 7,000 kms since last October - lots of trips to the coffee shop I think.

Back on the road later this week, so back to school pick ups in the Cobra:MECOOL:

Leeroy, Peter

Good to see that we are using or prepared to use our cars.

Its interesting when you get around the various sites/forums just how little some people do use their cars.

Perhaps it a location thing? Or maybe just to hard to get it out.

I'm in the process of getting a roof and side curtains made at the moment. They will be fitted when the Cobra comes out of the paint shop.

The GT40 was yellow. He was apparently travelling over to see friends in Adelaide. Comes from down the peninsular somewhere.

Good to see you are appreciated at the school. It always amazes me that all they ever want you to do is .."spin the wheels" - .."do a burnout"

No doubt you are popular with your kids.

Cheers guys

To a full blooded Aussie the only thing they want to see is smokin tyres.

If I obliged every time I'd be on my third set of rubber:JEKYLHYDE

To me its not the rubber marks, its the whole package - desirability, power and most of all sheer good fun!

That reminds me, Craig - your marks have disappeared. Tried to match them, but takes time with no LSD:rolleyes:
