I dont think that any off us want to clutter up our cars with crap like heaters etc but i think you will find it wont get rego without a fully operational demister .

I agree with Ledge in that it is needed for rego.
I dont know how you will go getting through rego Mike with a ball valve under the bonet beccause you cant turn the heat off from drivers seat position.

I will use a ball valve but I will most likely use a knob that looks like a choke pull turn control the valve and a switch in dash to turn blower on or off

Adrian,

If you still want heater control I fitted my own controllers under the dash on drivers side out of sight. I have 4 speed fan and a simple choke cable setup for heat control.

There is a Hot Rod mob here in melb that sell an electronic heater control and fan speed module, it is small and would easily fit under dash. They also sell a small heater/demister unit, if you are coming Thursday I will see if I can dig the information up for you.

I may go with the cable operated valve, don't know yet.

Won't be a problem for rego. The car won't have a windscreen for rego or a heater fitted.

Cheers

I got registered OK without heater. I have the demister vents but only coz I like the flashy chrome thingys. The Engineer knew I didn't have it hooked up but he didn't seem to worry. I think that if you have a soft top then you must have demisters. I didn't so it can't fog up presumably.

Hey TC (reminds me of a cartoon :3DSMILE: ), I am going tonight so if you have the info on the heater/control then I'd be most interested.

Was playing with cutouts of gauges and switches last night blutac'ing them to my blank dash. Discovered like you guys that a heater control doesn't exactly fit in so may go with the underdash option. I reckon this is the best bit about having a kit - the opportunity to customise. As they say....every Cobra is an original !

Cheers,
Adrian.

In Vic, as I understand it, you are not required to have a demister if your car doesn't have a soft top. Of coarse, the tabs on the body are only for the toneau Mr Vicroads! :D

TCR in Melbourne distribute this Vintage stuff.

The above page has the very switch ya want...ie..fan speed control and a push/pull cable.

Ohhh..forgot to mention this....

For those who want the absolute minimum in demister capability for ADR compliance.

I've seen 12v hair dryers in some auto shops...Supercheap..maybe autobarn. Made for the travelling companion to dry her hair on the move....plugs into a cig lighter socket.

Just wire discretely and pipe it to ya vents and ya legal. Prolly wont run for long periods but is enuff to comply with ADR's for rego.
