Auto Problems
Here's one for those few Auto guys.....
I have a LE95 auto tranny and its started to play up (just fix one problem and another one rears its ugly head:CRY: ) I have an intermittent gearing problem in that unable to access reverse (Cobra's are made to drive forward anway:D ) Select reverse and no reverse - just sits there. Select neutral and car goes forward! This problem started on Saturday and disappeared on Sunday! Any ideas?????? Checked inhibiter switch and seemed okay. Checked tranny oil and topped up a little bit - definite oil smell, but may have dripped or leaked onto the manifold. Also some smoke coming from the dipstick tube when checked with engine running. Worked fine this morning.... Is this an ominous sign or simply a bad electrical connection (which as you know I have plenty of:rolleyes: ) |
Have you checked your shifter cable isn't out of alignment? It may be that the shifter won't let the gear select fully.
Cheers |
Thanks Mike,
Where is it and how do you adjust it? I'm as much use on Auto's (first one I've ever owned) as is a chocolate fireguard:p |
I have to agree with Mike here.
I lost reverse a couple of years back, and it was because of a broken reverse band. When that went there was no reverse to be found anywhere. You may also find that 1st gear will not engage or only just, this would confirm the shift problem. This would be easier and cheaper to fix than a broken band. |
Thanks Jason,
Will check out this week sometime |
Problem fixed.
There is a rod from the side of the gearbox that goes to the T-Bar, and there is a slot on this rod where it mates with the bolt from the t-bar, therefore allowing you to adjust the position. The bolt was loose and it had slid along the rod, causing neutral and reverse to be in different positions. Was not looking forward to a tranny strip down:( Thanks Guys |
