How did Phil's pipes sound Aussie Mike
Aussie Mike
 Did you hear Phil's Cobra run at Wakefield Park Raceway?. Were you happy with the result from the pipes? Bernie |
I cant answer for Mike but I have ordered a set from him for early in the new year, they sounded good to me.
I have all my brake pipes and braided flexable lines fitted now, I will contact my engineer for the inspection he asked for at this stage. Then I will weld in all the little nuts and bolts that everyone has mentioned, also weld in a shear plate on the seat belt/roll bar mount (my roll bar mounts are all in line Mike). Phil can you get another battery tray made the same as yours and Mikes? I would not be needing it until late December. Also in the new year I will send you some money Phil for those rim centres and get you to send them to Tom @ OZ wheels. Oh man after the Nationals all I want to do is get my car done. |
All you want to do is get your car done - and spend money!!
Hey Boxhead
All you want to do is get your car done and spend money..... now the costly parts. Thanks for "Posting" the photos over on Mr. Pinks site also. Did I send my access/security for this "Forum"??? I was keen to hear the side pipes, but left just after the accident. I missed Phil run down the track. Good luck with the engineer on this preliminary check. Bernie |
Boxhead,I will get the ball rolling with the battery box. I will also put centres away for you. The Nationals sure get you stirred up dont they:D
Bernie, the sidepipes do sound good. Not loud enough to damage your hearing but enough to know its an 8 and your havein fun. Drop it into 6th O/D and the only noise y0u hear is wind noise , drop it back to third and you start :D :D :D Wish there was another Nationals before next years Wakefield. Phil |
Phil
:3DSMILE: That's good re the exhaust note. There was some talk about any interest in doing a mini event in Victoria a State club type day - track. May mount to nothing. **) Cheers Bernie |
Hi Bernie,
I was very happy with the sound of Phil's pipes. Nice deep note to them but not super loud. It's was great to be able to listen to them at full noise down the main straight and I feel much happier now that I know the baffle design sounds good. I'm now thinking of a couple of free flowing baffle designs that will also allow you to vary the collector length internally. They will make plenty of noise for track days and it'll only be a 20 minute job to swap them over from the quiet baffles. All possible with the pipes still on the car too. Jason N and I were talking about a Super Southern Cobra Fest. We could hold it at Winton Raceway which is about 2.5 hrs Nth of Melbourne. That would make it a better trip than Goulburn for our South Australian friends and only about 6hrs for our NSW friends. There's accomodation in the nearby towns of Benella or Wangaratta. Or the more hardy of us could camp at the track. The Vic club is currently working on a big BBQ trailer so BBQ meals could be done at the track. Personally I think I would enjoy a more informal get together around a BBQ or a counter meal at a pub than a sit down meal with entertainment. The event could be organised around 2 days of sprints. There would probably be more track time per driver as we wouldn't have as many cars as the nationals. I would also like to see a super cruise where you get all the Cobras together and go for a run somewhere for a meal or something. I think it should be run around March as there should still be good weather around that time but not the blistering heat of mid summer. Also this puts it about 6 months after the nationals as I think 1 national event per year just isn't enough to keep us all fired up. We should start up a discussion on this and get some ideas going. Cheers |
Mike
Good to hear (pardon the pun) about the pipes. %/ Yes I agree with the gathering of Cobras at Winton or similiar. Personally, I would attend at the track and enjoy a BBQ after in a relaxed atmosphere rather than going somewhere and then going out for dinner. Wangaratta would have the better accomodation options. %/ I also would try and make a super cruise. Perhaps these could be done after a Sunday breakfast. Perhaps a cruise to Mornington etc for lunch. Mike I will "Post" some thoughts on the "Thread" you have started. Cheers Bernie |
