WARNING Jag Rear Ventilated disk upgrade.

The rear brake upgrade worked well at Wakefield, pulled the car up and didn't have any heat related problems at all.

BUT!!!!

For all those guys out there that have the JagArye upgrade kits,
can I please suggest you check the 20 (or so) bolts that hold the two-piece rotor together?
During the 30 laps that Judy and I did on the Sunday we lost 15 bolts from the left rotor.
They worked 4/5ths loose before being knocked out by the brake caliper on the way through.
Would hate to think what would have happened if we did another 20 laps.
The bolts on the other rotor were also very loose.

I think a bit of heat resistant loc-tight may be a good preventative measure.

I'm going down to see Gary at JagArye today to see what he has to say.
Will keep you posted.

Jason, Thanks heaps for posting this info.

Also thanks for making jagArye aware of the problem. They need to be reminded of the liability issues which could arise from brake rotors coming apart.

May be worth asking them how tight these bolts need to be.

Thanks again mate

Cheers

Gary is talking to the manufacturer today.
and will be getting back to me.
At this stage it does seem to be an isolated case.

Jason... thanks again.

See what happens to people who scribble notes demanding money under the guise of a victorian export tax on Queenslanders. ;)

We have mates ya know..and they look after us. :D

Come on dude, we were all told not to pick on the slow kid at school. But being nice to him doesn't make him your mate!?!

Hey. I haven't seen that export tax yet!

I've got mates too you know. You’re just lucky they're Victorian, it's summer now so no need to travel north.
So I'll give you another 6 months :)

OK. So here is the run down.

Apparently this has been the first failure they have had of this type.
The bolts should have been loctighted in never to be removed.

Gary has replaced the bolts I lost and apologised for the inconvenience.

The brake manufacturer will now be chiseling the bolt heads off after assembly to avoid a repeat of this problem.

Hope this is the last we hear of this type of problem.

Jason, thanks for the heads up. I too have bought this upgrade but have not put the rear end together yet. I will have Jeff go through and check to see if they are ok.

Once again thankyou very much for the warning.

Stef
