Superformance Daytona Coupe
for those of you not at the nationals this year here are a couple of shots of the Superformance Daytona Coupe.
This thing was awesome. It had just got off the boat a couple of days before and the CTC boys put it on the trailer and brought it up to Wakefield with them. The fit and finish is ubelievable and this thing is truly a production car and it has a real production car feel to it (no home made stuff or adapted parts). The interior is snug around the shoulders but there is acres of legroom. There's ton's of room in the back under the lift up hatch. You could do your supermarket shopping with this thing. The chassis looks awesome and is a twin round tube setup that looks very strong. the suspension is all fabriacated and it's running some huge brakes. The wheels are 18" pin drives and they really fill up the guards nicely. There was no motor and trans installed but I believe Colin is putting in a hot Tickford 347 the same as the motor in my Pursuit 250 and the TS50 to meet the Aussie emissions laws etc. This thing will be awesome when it's running. Here's a pic of Mr and Mrs Nassty trying it out for size. Daytona Coupe 1 And they had to clean the inside of the windscreen after I sat in it What with all the broom broom noises I was making. Daytona Coupe 2 Cheers |
I had a look at the inside of the windscreen.
It didn't look like spit!?!?!?!?!?!:JEKYLHYDE |
Awesome car - even had a drink holder.
Aussie mike will need to order one with a tissue-box holder.:) |
Mike was fiddling with the knobs, but obviously the wrong ones :D
|
By the smile on Mr NASSTYs face I think Mrs NASSTY was fiddling with the knobs too :p
Cheers |
Mike,
What's the expected start price for the Daytona? And are they likely to be customer order only or is Superformance going to start importing a small number at a time? |
I think it's 68K for the roller. Then you gotta put a motor in it.
|
That price of $68,000 is US dollars.
In the land down under I think the price was going to be (approx) $145,000 ready to drive away Last I heard there was no exact costing yet as it still needed to be finalised. |
Colin hadn't done all the maths when I talked to him but very rough estimates put the price around AU$145K-$150K for a turnkey engineered and legal Aussie registered car with probably a 347 under the hood.
Thats US$68K for a roller which is a shade under AU$100K Cheers |
CTC is the Australian agent for Superformance. They have just brought the one coupe in at this stage as a demonstarator. Customer cars will be brought in to order.
Cheers |
Go on Mike, go on... do it :)
Who needs a house to sleep in when you have a Daytona  I'm looking forward to seeing it in a few weeks... I hope I can remain strong... and married %/ Cameron |
I feel sorry for you blokes whose other halves decide (or are they not allowed ;) ) to get involved in all things Cobra. After all, they double up as drink holders, radio tuners, trophies and lastly, they play with all the knobs for ya!
:D :D |
Like I said at the Nationals "It's just not fair!!!"
|
Mrs NASSTY's only complaint about the Daytona was...
wait for it..... No vanity mirror! :o For $150 gorillas that's inexcusible! CTC take notice! Oh, and electric windows would be nice too. |
Thanks Mike,
A little steep when you consider Ford intend producing the new Daytona for $85,000 US. Even with import duties etc etc etc a production car would be a similar price to the "kit" one. Time will tell%/ |
Aussie Mike
Great photos...Now do I see white knuckles there Aussie Mike.. and it hasn't got an engine in it yet..%/ Wonder how it would go/look in red with yellow stripes.. ..it could replace my McVan!!..  Bernie |
