Personally it's hard to go past the bang for buck AFCO radiators give.
They are not huge capacity or high tech radiators, but anything like that would be overkill for your Cobra. An AFCO will be fine for 302w. From all reports they are reliable enough. The one we bought looked well made and has been very reliable with a Lexus. It's done 1000's of km's and hundreds, maybe even 1000km's on the track. I would get a quote for bringing an AFCO over from US, will not be as expensive as you would think. OZVenom has brought them over before. Ours came from a swap meet. Very happy with money saved. Thinking about buying another AFCO for next project. |
Just checked model numbers of AFCO radiators and $340 one(80100N) is small unit - 19 x 22".
The radiator we run in Harrison Cobra is 80103N GM version. Size is 19 x 26". US$175. |
What do you think it would take to ship to Aussie?

Just got an estimate back from ARE for the radiator:
$1,200 excluding any framework. I did'nt think that was too bad a price for the quality of unit produced. As an alternative, $800 for an unpolished one. Will stick with the original for a while, but will pursue in the new year. |

Just a thought :confused:, aluminium isn't as good a thermal conductor as brass,
thus an aluminium radiator has bigger/more tubes and tanks, thus more water capacity. Isn't any wieght loss advantage negated by added coolant wieght :( But hey - they look good!!! |

40 rows and not sure on thickness (50mm I think). David, Using my Civil Enginnering brain 1 litre of water weighs 1 Kg. Based upon a 10% increase in water capacity of my EFI Windsor (15L capacity) using an aluminium radiator the increase would be 1.5 Kg. Guessing that an aluminium radiator would be approx 50% the weight of a cast one therefore reduced weight of an aluminium radiator far outways (no pun intended) any increase in water capacity. Plenty of assumptions above, but I think I am on the right track;) |

I've never dealt with an alloy radiator, I was going off what Iv'e seen in the Mustang mags etc and the alloy's seem to be twice as thick as the brass units |
Peter,did you ever do anything about your radiator?
mine is slowly running hotter and might fit an alloy radiator as well. this post gives plenty of options.. |

The rad stopped leaking so in the end left as is. I agree with you that this site proves to be useful for information (in between the general chit chat). Forgotten about this thread and found it interesting to read again. Hows the gold nugget going? If running hotter head south to Victoria - should stay cool then! |
