I presume its cranking?

Can you get it going at all and if so does it start when warm or not at all?

Is it fuel injected?

Fuel pump working?

Smell of fuel?

Presume you're getting a spark at the plugs?

More info please.

You know that one of us is gunna say it so here goes

Remove 302 and replace with LS1

Have you got spark?

Is your fuel system flowing?

Do you have any fault codes on your ECU?

I assume it used to start and you havent changed anything significant recently.

Try cranking it, and then immediately check a plug. If it's wet, you're getting fuel.

But it sounds suspiciously like a fuel problem. Do you have a fuel filter, is it blocked?

A Ford 5.0 with a "Delco" computer? I feel like I'm missing something. Is everything that topsy-turvy in the land down under? At the risk of sounding off while still ignorant, how about trying a Ford Motor Sport computer?

I know this may sound silly, but have you checked the fuel pump electrics. Mine was reversed and therefore was sucking not blowing.

CowtownCobra 11-30-2004 11:19 AM

Yes, lets not get our sucking and blowing mixed up:LOL:

I'm gonna assume the thing has been running and recently quit.

I'm also also gonna assume you have checked the obvious, ie. is there spark and fuel.

Does the distrib rotor rotate....if not maybe a stuffed drive gear...not unknown if wrong gear has been used. Even if the rotor is turning there may still be enough bind at low rpm's to make it look right all is ok. Check timing see if thats changed.

Check continuity of wires going from the engine to the puter. make sure power is at the puter. could be simply a dry joint in a wire.

cheers

its cranking, no start, fuel injected, pump working, yes fuel smell yes sparks,
Yes ford with Delco,
Someone mentioned to me that plugs may need replacing if too wet.
Motor was running prior and then next morning started after about twenty seconds just died.
I'm going to change plugs and put new leads on see what happens
As for computer haven't seen what codes come up yet.

If you're getting a smell of fuel and the plugs are saturated (with fuel) then it sounds like a fuel / Air delivery problem.

This may sound crazy, but push the car into the sun and lift the bonnet for 15 to 20 minutes.

If the car then fires its your air flow meter letting to much air in resulting in greater fuel delivery.

When going before did you experience any backfiring or flames (cooool)? If so then definitely a fuel issue.

Reptle 11-30-2004 03:55 PM

Yes peter i had backfiring but rectified that problem I'll check all my air flows again.
last problem i had was my vacs i blew my inlet manifold gasket. since then it started and then died.

PCC 11-30-2004 04:05 PM

If it is your airflow meter, once started the car will probably start all day (warm start), but will not the next day (cold start).

However, will also run very rich resulting in backfiring and huge fuel consumption.

Good luck.
