Second Time Lucky!!

I must apologise for being so quiet - been real busy its the silly season again!

Today we finally got our car passed through Motor Rego!!
Hip Hip Hooray :)
Now the real fun begins. We are arguing about what the number plate will say - I wan't ??? he wants ???

Second time lucky for us! The car is still in undercoat grey and none of the fancy chrome trickets fitted yet - but they passed it!!
The interior was finished with cardboard kick panels padded with black cheap $9.95 per metre black pin board carpet. It looks pretty cool considering. The complete interior fit out will be finished by the professionals in the winter - steel grey carpet with the Ford Phantom Purple duco.
For the summer we are just going to drive it in undercoat grey and then have it painted in the winter.

It goes down to the exhaust place early next week to have the side pipes fitted. These side pipes came from a guy in America who was selling them second hand and very very cheap by Australian standards- second hand to him but they had never been on a car. Because our car is the 100mm extended version we had to cut and put a small extension into the pipes so they fitted the length of the cockpit. Hubby has had them ceramic coated and you cant even tell where the join is.

When the side pipes are fitted I will post some new pictures.
I do hope the rain lets up here in Adelaide.....dont want to get wet driving this week end finally without a @#$@ permit!!

Sounds like you have done the same as me and done the minimal to get reg. Mine too is still in undercoat and interior not started but I too want to just drive it while its warm. At least it gives you time to just now slowly enjoy finishing it off. Well done.

It's a great feeling, I hope you have better luck than I have had. I've been registered for 5 weeks and only been out twice due to the rain, and this week looks rotten as well. I think its all the weather we get from SA.... :LOL: :LOL:
I had a look at your pics the throttle body adaptor looks good I might have to make up something similar as there is very little room between the bonnet and the intake pipe.

Congratulations guys. It's such a great feeling to finally be on the road. Be sure and get too and finish it after you sort the bugs out.
I too did the minimal to get registered, that was seven years ago, still in gel coat, and some interior to finish.
Hmmmm......better had get to that soon.

Peter came home today from Motor Rego with the official sticker and number plates!
We decided to use a set of premium plates we had lying around that we owned from a previous car.
The personalised plates will have to wait.

The Motor Rego department is a bit cheeky though - they charge for stamp duty on the value of the car - :(
The car hasnt even been registered before let alone transfered to anyone!
He tried to get the proposed value down to cut the stamp duty in half - but you cant get out of all of it. It cost nearly $700 today just to get the rego sticker and its only registered until March 2005 at this stage!!!

Someone told us that you should only be paying for the cost of the chassis or as you brought the car - not the finished project.
I also did hear of a guy here in Adelaide that found an old gem of a car and decided to restore it to concourse level. When he took it to the motor rego to get passed it was value at over $160,000 dollars!! He had to pay nearly $30,000 stamp duty on the thing!

Lyn, when registering mine I was asked the value & I started at $25k but he just kept shaking his head so I kept going up $2k at a time until it got to $40K and he said that sounds about the right value. $1600 in stamp duty. Rather it when towards the paint job!
