Classic Revival springs
You guys with classic revivals I was wondering what you have done with the springs with your coil overs. I got mine from Ian but I reckon they are way to hard and for around town are just damn uncomfortable. Have any of you hard your own springs made and if so are they softer than standard. I can push down on front or rear and get almost no up/downward movement so I want to change springs to improve ride. They are AVO shockies and I am sure they are very good with the right spring. Boxhead weren't you playing around with springs? Anyone know of Melb. based spring people to talk to would also be great help.

I cannot remember exactly what spring weights I have in my car but I will read the tags tonite and let you know. My springs feel very stiff in the front (does not move when a fat basterd like me stands on front bar below the mouth) But the back almost feels too soft (can easily bounce rear of car but no weight in it yet) also my rear lower shockie mounts have been moved approx 1.5 - 2 inches inboard for wider wheels. I am pretty sure I have 450lb front springs and 500lb rear springs with 3 inch spacer spring of 125lb |
did you get these from Ian? He says mine are 525lb rear & 450lb front. I was thinking of putting 450lb on rear and getting 380lb made for the front in a progressive spring. Why does Ian have the tracking spring and not just go for a single spring fornt & rear?
Mine too is stiff in front and softer in rear. Its hard to know what to do to get it right without spending a fortune on spring combo's till you get it right. Any suspension experts out there? Leeroy |

Sorry this is an old thread but I have a similar question. My CR is the 2008 version with the VE LSD Rear setup. So I am not sure what the impact of the different setup/geomery would be but here goes. I am using AVO coil overs with 450 front and 350 rear. I was thinking my rear suspension was hitting hard on relatively minor bumps and noticed for my desired 100mm ride height I am having to wind up the AVO coils a fair way such that they don’t have much travel left in them (the coils that is). Fronts are ok. I was thinking I might need to go to 400lb coils on the rear, and was wondering what other CR owners are running. Also I have found a place that sells the coils for 86 bucks each, anyone know of any other places - in Vic would be good. Thanks Rgds Gregg |
Im running Eibach, 400 at the rear and have just ordered 450 for the front, not that my car is on the road. Ive got 4 keeper springs and 4 normal springs originally supplied by Classic Revival if anyones interested.

What were the Eibachs worth and where did you source them from? I've got Ian's springs too and they aren't real good. by the difference in pre-load from side to side I don't reckon they are real even in their weights. Cheers |

the 400s came from Phil Mizzi " some of his leftovers" and Ive just ordered the the 450s from a friend of a friend who owns a suspension place. I think theyre about $300 but I can confirm once they arrive. Regards. |

Yes at least 400 for the rear. I changed out the springs supplied by Ian as they seemed to have a mind of there own:JEKYLHYDE Buy Eibach and your problems are solved.:) Phil:) |
I know that Warwick Harrison uses King Springs and AVO shocks on all his cars and I have been pleased with the ride and handling balance. Perhaps he could advise regarding the spring pressures used?

Put 400lb Eibachs on the rear - goes great
Finally got round to replacing my 350lb AVO coils springs with some 400lb Eibachs.
Got plenty of travel now and ride is much better. I reckon my 350's were alomost out of range and my suspension travel was almost nothing. Got em from Top Performance in Mitcham VIC - they were good to deal with, they also sell King amongst others. Rgds Gregg |
I Have some springs and shocks for sale if anyone is interested.
King springs(coil overs) 2 x 8" long x 2 1/4" diameter x 400 pounds Sell for $120,00 ono. Set of coil over shocks. They have done 5000K 2 x SPAX 14 point adjustable shocks. (new price $800 pair) 2 x EIBACH Coil springs to suit SPAX shocks, 0800-0225-0425, which equates to, 8'' long x 2 1/4" diameter x 425 pounds. (new price $300 pair) Sell for $450 ono the set.
