Demister
I am curious as to what type of demister you guys are using . I just got mine from Warwick and it should work great but it doesn't blow hot air only cold ( i have put pics in my gallery )
.Im thinking of piping the inlet to near the fire wall to get some free heat from the engine bay . Any ideas . Still i do like not haveing to run water pipes . Paul |
Hi Paul,
I used a heater/fan unit which I think came out of a dodge truck. It is very neat and only about 180mm dia. but must be plumbed in. In the CR manual they speak of a 12v hairdryer inline to create the hot air. This would save plumbing into water system but not sure where you get a 12v h/dryer. Might be all hot air:LOL: |
I am using two 12 volt hairdryers. One for drivers and one for passengers side. They work perfectly.
You can get them at any auto accessory store. They are really compact as well. Brett |
I will also use 12v hair dryers, I have seen them on ebay.
I am fairly certain you could get them through either super cheap (or similar) or Tandy electronics. |
I havent put one in yet as my engineer told me if I was not going to put a soft top or hard top on the Cobra you do not need to have a demister installed.
But I will probly instal one at a later date if needed. Craig W%/ |
Im using one thats available through Everett Morrison cobras in the US. Its about 6-7" square but it needs plumbing. I didnt want to put one in but everyone I know with a cobra or similar open top car says you really need one, not for the screen but for your legs. Theres a picture of the heater in my gallery.
My engineer tells me Ive got to have one in South Australia to pass for rego. He told me the only way not to have one is to have no screen at all, or one of those little racing screens. Ledge, I wish I had seen your fibreglass ductwork before getting mine. I bought my ductwork from DRB and it took a bit of work to bring them up to standard. Yours looks good from the getgo. |
I used a Mojave Heater/Defroster unit from FlexLite. Got it from Summit Racing . It works great and came with adjustable vents and speed control. It was very easy to plum as well. I just ran flexible black drier hose to each defroster vent.

Hey there Ledge, did you just need to fibreglass the air ducting to the underside of your turrent?
|
Hi Boxhead ,
Im to lazy to mix up glass so i just used Sikaflex , And it worked fantastic , but yes all i had to do was stick it under the turrent and have my vent slots in the channel that it leaves . Very easy and it looks neat . Paul |
Hi ledge,
where did you get the fibre glass duct from looks like a good solution as I havent bothered to fit my demisters yet and would like to use something like that Leeroy |
